I have a 97 Honda Accord with 280K. Recently, I pulled over from driving to check a map and when I put my car back in D, the engine just raced like it was in neutral when I gave it gas. The reverse gear worked for a bit in the parking lot, eventually no shifter position

I have a 2001 Accord LX with 60,000 miles on it. I called the dealer to inquire prices on various items for the 60000 service and he recommended to change the timing belt which was priced at $840 as it included other items like pumps, seals, etc.

I'm considering this Honda civic 1997 with 60k miles on it. edmunds.com reviews are great but I'm not sure if there are any recalls on it. carfax.com gives conflicting information. I see following on one of the pages:
