| New engine question for HyundaiTech | 30 Jun 2007 03:16 GMT | 9 |
Now that the Sonata engines use Timing chains (with tensioners) and Variable valve timing, is there any issue with the extended oil (regular, non-severe) change interval? I am assuming that these are hydraulic actuated. Do you think that this may be an concern as these engines ...

| Elantra belt change question for Hyundaitech | 29 Jun 2007 17:25 GMT | 3 |
I recently changed the timing belt and the three accessory belts in my '04 Elantra GT (60K miles). I used an OEM timing belt, but I used Dayco belts with cross grooves for the other three. I'm noticing a fair amount of "belt whine" (not slippage) when I blip the throttle with the ...

| rattle--remove rearview mirror? | 29 Jun 2007 00:14 GMT | 3 |
I have a 2002 Elantra VE in Canada that's got a fairly constant rattle that seems to be coming from the rearview mirror mount (when I hold it firmly in my hand, the rattle goes away). Is there any way to fix it? It looks like there's some connection, probably with a bolt, from

I have a firend who needs new tires for her 2003 Santa Fe. What do folks here recommend, based on their experiences? Is there agreement in this group on which tire(s) are best? We're talking about a 4x4 in the New York metro area. Some snow driving, but no off-roading.

| 2002 Santa Fe - Back Glass Lift Supports | 28 Jun 2007 01:13 GMT | 4 |
The back glass lift support cartridges in our '02 SF have lost their will to live. Does anyone know if that's covered by warranty? If not, I've found replacements online, but is that a EZ-to-moderate DIY project?

Seems like a general search turns up a bunch of online wholesalers but they suspiciously have the exact same web site layout and menu system. Anyone know where to buy new quality front and rear rotors for an 02 Sonata? Maybe even decent ceramic brakes too? Tirerack seems to have

| Window Thing in 2000 Elantra | 27 Jun 2007 13:19 GMT | 12 |
This is probably a very generic type of device, but the thing (the cable) that pulls my passenger window up and down broke... There were some plastic pieces in the bottom of the door, and the cable just gets all tangled. I remember this being an overly-expensive repair...

| Synthetic oil opinions? | 25 Jun 2007 23:17 GMT | 29 |
I have a 3.3L V6 engine in my Sonata filled with normal mineral oil. I purchased the car brand new 4 months ago here in the UK and have done 2500 miles. I thought it would be a good idea to change oil after the break-in period.

| 2006 Sonata GLS 4 cyl Auto. 15k Service | 25 Jun 2007 03:26 GMT | 7 |
I asked my service adviser the approximate cost for the 15k service. He told me $455.00 plus tax. Is it me or is that excessive. Granted I'm in NJ and all but seems high to me. What do you think? Thanks
