Long time  lurker de-lurking...
HT, Yesterday I took my 2002 Elantra to the dealer where I bought the
car for the 30K Maintenance (only 1 mile drive to work every day) and
Wheel and Radio Questions19 Jan 2008 23:29 GMT6
Can someone tell me if a steel wheel (rim) from a 2006 Kia Spectra
would be the same size and lug pattern as the wheel on my 2005 Elantra
GT with alloy wheels - I'm looking for extra rims to mount snow tires
and saw these Kia wheels in the local paper.
2007 Vera Cruz questions19 Jan 2008 23:23 GMT4
Has anyone experienced an static problems with the Vera Cruz?  The seats
are cloth.  When I exit the vechicle I received quite a large static charge
when I touch the door to close it.
I am also noticing some noise on the AM radio band.  The XM band is
2000 Elantra GLS 100900 miles and transmisson gone19 Jan 2008 23:17 GMT8
For Hyundaitech or anyone else with knowledge on a transmission/
warranty problem.
I have a 2000 Elantra that has 100,900 miles.  It is a 5 sp manual and
while driving down the highway at 60 mph the car pops out of 5th
Santa Fe fuel filter, or not???19 Jan 2008 18:12 GMT1
My 04 Santa Fe owner's manual has a suggested mile interval to replace the
fuel filter.
My local (good) service station typed in the car in their computer, and told
me it doesn't have a fuel filter.
What's the best lubricant14 Jan 2008 14:35 GMT13
I have 75000 on a elantra 05. Runs perfectly well. Kept up oil changes
around 3to5 k's. Valvoline advised switch to a blend. I must admit,
this winter the car did spin faster in colder 10 degree mornings. I
put 50k's on the car per year now and want to keep it for 200k's. Any

Changing Platinum Plugs10 Jan 2008 23:07 GMT8
The Sonata Manual calls for replacing the platinum plugs at 60,000
mile.  If the car is running as well as it ever did and the MPG has
not gone down how important is it to change the plugs?.  In other
words is this a case of     "don't fix it if it ain't broken?"

Elantra ATF Change - Question for Hyundaitech10 Jan 2008 17:28 GMT16
Our local Hyundai dealer uses a exchange system for changing the ATF.
This is effectively a power flush system I believe, and they also
mentioned that they use "SPIII-approved synthetic ATF" instead of the
OEM Hyundai or Mitsubishi SPIII ATF.  Of course, the exchange system
Open Question10 Jan 2008 12:14 GMT3
Is the Dealer's Service Manager expected to have  general mechanical
knowledge of the cars that pass through his shop or is just the paper
and computer man?

2004 Accent, what battery size?09 Jan 2008 22:26 GMT3
Hi. I've been searching online for a replacement battery but none of
the  auto parts websites seem to stock it. I would just like to know
the size so I can pick one up locally at Costco or Walmart.  Hyundai
online does have it for $56 but I can't believe it's so unique that
2002 Elantra - Rear Trailing Arm Bolt Broke09 Jan 2008 04:14 GMT2
Anyone else ever got that type of failure? It wasn't expensive to repair,
but it would have been somewhat disconcerting if it happened at high speed.
The car has 47,000 kilometers.
Thanks,
The water pump, freeze plug, and warranty story continues07 Jan 2008 18:13 GMT1
Continuing from an earlier post...
Car - 2000 Sonata, 62000 miles, original owner.
Unknowingly leaked coolant and overheated.  I could see water leaking
from the water pump area.  Not just  drip, drip, but a lot of water.
"06 Sonata, outside temp reading too high07 Jan 2008 13:07 GMT3
The last few weeks I've noticed the outside temp reading is about 10 degrees
too high even after driving awhile.  Is it usually a failed thermocouple in
front of the radiator that causes this?  I assume that would still be under
warranty?  The car has about 27,000 mile on it.
