How tough replacing shocks and springs on 86 Cherokee?24 Jan 2004 19:59 GMT1
Are the shocks and springs a piece of cake on an 86 Cherokee? I'm in a
high-rust area if that makes a difference. I know I need shocks... the
springs could wait a while but they are rusty and the coils are flaking
apart somewhat.

My wife and I are buying a well-maintained (regular oil changes, never
ran hard, never towed with, all maintenance done regularly) 1994
Cherokee Sport 4WD w/ 185,000 miles from a friend of ours (so yes, we
know the maintenance history).

How much play should a valve stem have?24 Jan 2004 17:08 GMT5
When I compressed the spring the other day I noticed there was some play
when I moved the spring back and forth.  Should there be any play and if so,
how much?  What's the rule of thumb here?
Thanks,

Dana 44 pinion yoke24 Jan 2004 07:27 GMT3
I'm rebuilding a Cherokee Dana 44 rear for my '90 XJ (yes Bill, after
spinning my Dana 35 diff case on the tubes and later crunching some
carrier gears, I felt it was time for a change). I was thinking of
upgrading to a u-bolt style pinion yoke and a 1330 u-joint shaft while
Question - Rubi's on its way24 Jan 2004 04:35 GMT14
My local dealer's getting my Rubicon from another dealer 300 mi. away and
assures me that the driver won't exceed 55 mph as stated in the break-in
section of the owners manual.
Since it's Interstate all the way, with a 70 MPH speed limit, I have my
1992 Jeep  Cherokee engine noise?23 Jan 2004 23:30 GMT3
I looked at a 1992 Jeep Cherokee today that makes a noise that sounds like a
"rod knock" while the engine is running. This sound is intermittent and when
it's making the noise, the engine runs rough. When this  noise is gone, the
engine appears to run smooth.
