Torque spec for valve cover30 Mar 2004 17:18 GMT5
I ordered an aluminum valve cover for my 258.  Does anyone know the
proper torque spec for the bolts?  I have searced google groups and the
internet and have seen people suggest 13 inch lbs to 19 ft lbs.  btw, I
know that 19 ft lbs is way too much :)  Thanks.
wobbly shift stick.30 Mar 2004 17:13 GMT11
The shift stick on my 92 YJ has a lot of play, when in gear, the top can
move in a 4" dia circle.  I drive my brothers YJ the other day, and his
stick is much tighter.  What parts do I need to replace to fix this?

NAPA discount30 Mar 2004 17:12 GMT6
I found something out the other day at NAPA just on a hunch
I asked them if they give a discount to Postal People & the
guy said "Sure do" & knocked off like 15%, never asked me
for any ID or anything & I never said I worked at the PO but
30x9.5x15 Tire Pressure30 Mar 2004 17:03 GMT15
I just installed BFG A/T but I have not been able to find the air
pressure I should use. The door jamb has 33psi for the 215x75x15 but
that rides very harsh on these. I am at 30psi for now and the ride is
better. This is a 2004 Wrangler X. My 1999 Isuzu Amigo rode great at
T-5 oil?30 Mar 2004 16:54 GMT4
Ok, I put Mobil 1 synth in the axles and Dana300 (75w 90), and now I want to
change the oil in the T-5.  My AMC shop manual calls for ATF, and my
owner's manual calls for GL5 gear oil.  I have read that GL5 is bad for the
syncros in a manual transmission.  So what is the best oil ...

Can I get rid of the cat converter???  My '83 CJ has not been licensed for 7

Adding load capacity to Cherokee?30 Mar 2004 15:51 GMT6
I occasionally have to load up my `89 Cherokee (4.0, auto, 4WD) with
several hundred pounds of gear for work.  These are generally one-day
affairs and usually under 200 miles round-trip a few times a year.  When I
do this she's a bit nose-high and going down by the stern, but still ...

How often to change a fuel filter30 Mar 2004 10:50 GMT6
Well, after changing the spark plugs and serpentine belt, I was going to do
the fuel filter. However, in looking in the shop manual, it seems that
changing it is going to be a PITA.
Soo, the question is how often should it be changed? This way I know whether

WTD: GOOD Mechanic in Bay Area OR Help with Cherokee Problems30 Mar 2004 07:25 GMT1
So, here is the deal.  My brother just got his license.  Within the first
week he decided it would be a good idea to take my former Grand Cherokee on
a muddy trail during a heavy rain storm (he is not a smart person).  Anyway,
he managed to go off the trail and into a drainage ditch ...

vehicle slightly ? I replaced the suspension on my jeep with a

TJ Bug deflectors Really Work?30 Mar 2004 05:46 GMT3
Do bug deflectors really work on a TJ?  My wife had an Explorer that had one
and she cracked it on a light wire during a blizzard and when I removed it
and you couldn't tell a bit of difference.  The Explorer was not the rock
and bug magnet the TJ is.
