86 MJ brake lines altered08 Mar 2004 04:53 GMT8
I just noticed that the brake lines starting with the proportioning valve
have been reworked on my recently acquired MJ. I haven't traced all the
altered lines but for one thing the height sensing valve has been bypassed.
Maybe this explains wht the dash light is always illuminated. ...
'98 GC 5.9 won't shift from 1st at full throttle08 Mar 2004 04:42 GMT2
I bought this vehicle with 89K on it.  It now has 118K on it.  As soon as I
acquired it, I realized it would not shift out of low gear at full throttle and
after warmed up.  It shifts normally from 2nd and 3rd at full throttle, and
shift fine from 1st as long as I'm not at full ...
Keeping Mil Spec Off Road Vehicles 'in service' article08 Mar 2004 03:53 GMT6
Use what is at hand is the mantra.  Ever wonder where some of those jury-rigged
things on your ex-military jeep came from? Some, not all might be 'in the
field' quick repairs. And it still goes on today.

fuel filter in a TJ?
Fuel Pump Seized on '93 YJ07 Mar 2004 21:37 GMT14
Here's a new one (on me).  Tonight, after filling up my tank with liquid
gold at the ARCO, I turned the key, and the old 4.0L started to light,
then gagged and died.  When I tried to start it again, the fuel line
felt like it was dry - no flow.  I pushed it out from the gas pumps, ...
1989 wrangler problem07 Mar 2004 20:55 GMT12
I have a 1989 Jeep wrangler that will not run at a idle and only is getting
about 8 MPG. I have had it in a shop and it ran for a few days.  The timing
is correct. I have replaced the carburetor, Oxygen sensor, PCV valve, timing
chain and sprockets, plugs, wires, distributor. The ...
'00 XJ 4.0L - First start when cold problem ---- Please Read..07 Mar 2004 17:58 GMT16
'00 Cherokee XJ with 4.0L, 48k miles.  Runs perfectly in every way
EXCEPT: cold starts will result in about 10 seconds of roughness, enough
to cause a little bit of wobble to the body..   It runs rough about long
enough after starting to:  put on the seatbelt, check behind me in ...

I was having idle roughness, but cured most of it
by fixing minor vac leaks (broken hard plastic lines)
Lug torque question?07 Mar 2004 04:15 GMT5
What do most of you sent your lug-nut torque to?
My 04 Grand cherokee manual states to set them between 80 - 115 ft. lbs.
Just curious where in that range I should be.
thanks.
