I Googled this here and found lots of conflicting data, so let me tell
the story:
I got my 60,000 mile checkup done on my '99TJ 3 months ago at a
dealer, with oil change included. Yesterday I went to change the oil
Binding noise from the rear (TJ '01)09 Apr 2004 01:51 GMT12
Today I was driving my TJ '01 back home from another city about 120 kms
away.  There was nothing different till I came up to the off ramp and
stopped while making a slight left curvy turn.  When I started moving again
I heard some binding noise from the back side of the TJ, but once ...

Latest word on my 90 YJ is the MSD 6 Off-Road Ignition I have had for
the last 4 years is intermittently not sending a spark (according to the
shop).  I occasionally have had problems starting, just keeps cranking,
and one time, my solution was to roll the jeep back a bit, let out ...
Hardtop Hoist08 Apr 2004 16:00 GMT4
I'm looking for any ideas for rigging up a hoist to lift the hardtop off and
drop it back on without having to unchain the wife from the sink to get her
to help me.  I've seen the commercially available hoists however they
haven't made their way to Australia yet.  Any suggestions?
CJ7 Oil Guage won't work - HELP08 Apr 2004 15:06 GMT2
My '86 Jeep CJ7 with a 258 CI and 4 Spd manual runs fine, sounds good
but it gives me a fit because I cannot seem to get the oil guage to
work.  I have replaced both the sending unit and the guage and get no
reading at all with the purple hooked up to the middle terminal, red
Fill plug location on manual transmission on a '97 Wrangler08 Apr 2004 05:17 GMT15
Anyone know where it is?  The owner's manual says there's a fill plug about
halfway up on the driver's side of the transmission.
All that's there is a plug that takes a torx socket that is stamped "DON'T
REMOVE".  I don't see any other plug except the

1987 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer Transmission Problems08 Apr 2004 04:00 GMT5
For some reason my Jeep transmission fails to engage when I put it
into any gear. I have an automatic transmission with 4WD. Sometimes it
goes into gear and sometimes it doesn't. Also, the 4WD light will stay
on whether its in 4WD or not. Someone told me to check the Throttle

I am looking for a EFI on a budget.  There is two that I am looking, Howell

Keyless entry fob08 Apr 2004 01:53 GMT14
I was told yesterday by a Chrysler parts man that this part is no
longer available for my '91 Cherokee.
"But it's a 13 year old car!"
I wonder if Chrysler has considered that this statement is like
Extending Wrangler seat adjustment08 Apr 2004 01:19 GMT12
My 6'1" son drives a 1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ (manual shift) and even
with his height, generally keeps the driver seat all the way forward.
When I (5'9") drive it, I can reach the pedals, but just barely. He
goes off to college next year and the Jeep has to stay home where we'd

i'm in the process of rebuilding an engine (Jeep 4.0L I-6), and last weekend
went through the process of installing a reconditioned crank with new main
bearings (crank journals were turned down .010", and .010" undersize
bearings were used).  I followed the FSM recommended bearing ...
