Like I needed another reason not to trust a dealership...18 May 2004 16:08 GMT29
A little off topic, my 97 Chevy Astro 2WD.
Took the van in for front brakes... why not do it yourself you ask?
Well, 60k ago it was in for warranty work and I also needed pads. Turns out
the Delco pads have a lifetime warranty, cool. They called a few hours later
High Idle on '88 Cherokee18 May 2004 08:34 GMT11
My '88 Cherokee has a problem with what feels like a stuck choke, except
that its fuel injection.  When I start it, the RPMs go to about 2000,
then, instead of falling to something more reasable, they continue to rise
to maybe 2500.  After a few minutes, I can shut it off and it'll ...
I have got the lift..  What next??18 May 2004 07:25 GMT6
Well I just got the 3" suspension lift and I have a 1" body lift so I have a
total of 4" of lift.  I am now debating on bigger tires next (33x12.5x15),
or if I go for a front spool locker.
Is it better to get the extra 1.5" Diff clearance over the extra traction of

CJ5 vs CJ718 May 2004 04:22 GMT9
I'm sure I could probably find something if I search, but one of you
probably has a link or a chart of some sort. I would like to know the
fifferences between the CJ5 and CJ7. I found a CJ5 ad in the local paper
here and the price id definitely right unless it is a basket case. All ...

Ok, so there I was, driving down the highway, Jack on the rocks in one hand, Jim in the other, when this weird grind/growl/*noise* starts coming from my Jeep....I listen intently (after setting my drinks down, of course) and first impression is driveline....here we go:
Faster ...
Carter WO Stalling - HELP!18 May 2004 02:38 GMT3
My 1953 Volvo has a Carter WO carburetor and when I decellerate, the engine
stalls.  I have installed a repair kit, replacing the gaskets, float bowl
needle valve and cleaned the carburetor thoroughly.  I have checked for
vaccum leaks and replaced the exhaust pipe gasket.  There ...

XJ Compass and Outside Temp Guage17 May 2004 23:16 GMT4
Hi - I'm new to this XJ thing, and just bought a 1994 model in the UK,
4LTR Limited. The compass seems to work fine, but the outside temp
gauge reads 5C all the time. Can someone suggest where I start looking
to solve this irritating fault please?
Leaking tire valve stem - replaceable w/o actually removing tire?17 May 2004 22:09 GMT7
I have a tire valve (on '94 YJ w/ stock & standard rims) that leaks at
the stem base until I put a little lateral pressure on it (and the
leak stays stopped if I shim it that way).  My guess is given location
at base of stem it's the stem, and not the valve itself.
Ring & Pinion in D30/D4417 May 2004 21:55 GMT7
I currently have 3.07 gears in my 92 YJ, and I want ot change to 4.10.
I have been looking throught he catalouges and have found that I can get
a 4.10 R&P for the D30, but only a 4.09 for the D44.  Am I just looking
in the wrong place?  does the .01 difference matter?

89 Cherokee eats fuel pumps17 May 2004 20:12 GMT2
put in two new aftermarket fuel pumps - each lasted about a day.
Checked fuel lines, gas tank, and filter -- all fine.  Tried a Bosch -
same thing happened.  Checked everything again and installed Mopar
filter.  It lasted a week.
