headlight wiring12 May 2004 18:39 GMT9
Just got finished replacing the switch in my 92 XJ. That wasn't the
problem. Fished around and found a wiring connector behind left
headlight that was corroded as hell. Anybody ever tried bypassing one of
these with splices? Any reasons not to? If I have to replace I will,
quick question re: torque12 May 2004 17:41 GMT2
I am installing new spring hangers on my cj7.  What is the proper torque for
the spring hanger bolts.  I found a thread where someone suggeted 105 ft
pounds, which seems way too much.  I found a chevy truck lift kit
installation document that suggests 55-65 ft pounds for a spring ...
Soft Top Questions12 May 2004 16:31 GMT4
I'm the proud new owner of a '99 TJ. Unfortunately I haven't done much
actual off-road/'real' Jeeping yet, but I do have some questions about
just taking care of my Jeep in general.
First, is it safe to take a Jeep through a car wash with the soft top
Quadratrac TCase Neutral ?12 May 2004 16:17 GMT4
I can't seem to put my wifes '98 ZJ Quadratrac transfer case into neutral.
There seems to be no position of the transfer case lever anywhere between
4WD Full -time and 4WD part-time that is actually a neutral. Both
non-neutral modes seem to work fine except there's a horrible ...
Switching Head bolts12 May 2004 15:35 GMT35
Just had my engine rebuilt.  New cam, new crank 10/10, new bearings, new
pistons and rings, flywheel balanced and all married up to my 4.0L head out
the door.
Now the R&R guy has noticed one of the head bolts is out of position for the

have one to offer?
Thanks
From the "Not for everybody department"12 May 2004 08:57 GMT15
Stumbled across this diff cover today...

Neat idea, not too practical for off-road though. The company is also
developing matching valve covers.
Police Cherokee question12 May 2004 03:15 GMT6
I live in PA and the State Police as well as a few local ploice departments
use Cherokees. Anyone know if Police Cherokees come with any different or
upgraded equipment as compared to regular factory XJ's? Thanks.

bought the winch, now the only way I see to mount it on front is by bolt and
welding, any suggestions.

CJ dash bulb holder thingy12 May 2004 01:26 GMT4
As I restore my 1982 Scrambler, I've found that one of the bulb holders (for
the #53 bulbs) that fits into the back of the big speedometer instrument
cluster is broken.  I haven't had any luck so far in wrecking yards finding
a replacement.  Anyone know where I can get one of these ...
87 YJ Steering problem12 May 2004 01:26 GMT6
I have an 87 YJ with power steering.  It has stock
size rims and tires (225/75-15 tires).

Lately the steering has become super hard to turn.
Creak/Click up front - Trackbar brace?12 May 2004 00:28 GMT2
I have two connecting rods that go from a bracket on the driver's side
frame rail to the passenger side frame rail; they are both attached to
a bolt on the bottom of the passenger side rail (a bolt that goes
clear through the rail vertically), and to a bracket attached to the
annoying inconsequential matter11 May 2004 23:14 GMT7
Anyone wanna guess why, if I park uphill in the driveway, my
jeep needs 5 or 6 cranks to start, but if parked downhill,
the normal 1st crank starts it.
Like I said, it is nothing more than an annoyance. It does
Stupid radiator...11 May 2004 21:59 GMT22
Ok, my half plastic half metal radiator has started leaking,
at the top, all around, where the AL and plastic meet.
1998 TJ with the four-oh H.O.
