Drivebelt tension (followup)23 May 2004 02:42 GMT4
I've been hearing a loud squeal coming from the engine compartment of my '95
GCL (usu. on engine startup), so I took some advice on here and got a Krikit
belt tension gauge from NAPA Auto Parts.  I tried it on the drivebelt
today...60 lbs!  Can you say "loose belt"?
New door skins - dumb question23 May 2004 01:09 GMT2
Okay, I can finally afford to order my new soft top, since the duct tape ain't
workin' anymore.
Stupid question of the evening, before I place my order - how do the new door
skins get installed for Jeeps with half doors?  Will the instructions with a
226 valve job23 May 2004 00:34 GMT1
I'm trying to get the valves back in my 226 jeep engine (1956) I've got
the proper spring compressor, but can't seem to get the valve keepers up in
there and make them stay. It seems like the valve spring gets a little off
center when you compress it. Anyone know a trick to make ...
Damn Jeep failed the smog test!  That came a total suprise....23 May 2004 00:26 GMT7
My '98 Jeep Cherokee with 83,000 failed its smog test today and I truly
did not see that coming.  It has been running great, gas mileage is
about what it has always been, maybe a little less as it has seen more
stop and go city driving but nothing that would make me really
How can I tell what cam is in my old 86 4.2?23 May 2004 00:24 GMT18
I just had a strange sight.
Someone was sorting out the front of my garage for me and my old 86 4.2
is sitting on a dolly waiting for me to do something with it and they
had to move it.
OT: Some people (eBay related)22 May 2004 23:33 GMT6
In doing my almost nightly search for "Wrangler" on eBay, I came across an
auction for some Wrangler Tires on beadlocks. Just for the heck of it I
entered my zip code in the shipping calculator. Take a guess.....
$876!!!!!!

"swirls the air for better fuel milage and more horsepower"  i want to try
it, since i'm getting about 13 mpg, and gas prices are supposed to get up
to $3.25 by the end of summer.
76 CJ5 not charging/starting22 May 2004 21:21 GMT7
Bought a 76 CJ5 a couple of weeks ago (Hooo-Yahh!)  Couple of days
after I bought it she wouldnt start.  Replaced battery.  Couple of
days later, she wouldnt start, battery was dead.  Replaced alternator
& external voltage regulator.  As the days went by... engine developed
How underpowered IS the 4 cylinder??22 May 2004 21:21 GMT23
Alright, I love my Jeep. Sweet 2000 Sport, silver and lovely. The problem is
she is out of warranty and starting to give me problems. I figure it's time
to trade her in (don't tell her) for a new one, but I am upside down in the
Jeep by a few grand and that wouldn't afford me the ...
CJ 7 Brake Master Cylinder22 May 2004 21:18 GMT7
During wheeling Saturday I lost my brakes in my '79 CJ7, haven't had
much time to diagnose it, due to yesterday being Mothers Day.  My wife
was mad I even had to borrow a trailer and go back and get the Jeep
Sunday morning.
Jeep vs Explorer22 May 2004 17:18 GMT3
It's time for me to start looking at a new (used) car to replace my old '91
Explorer EB 4x4, which I bought nearly 4 years ago.
I also like the Jeep Cherokee a friend owns, so I'm looking at both SUVs as
a possible replacement.
Dana 30 Questions22 May 2004 13:13 GMT1
What size is the nut in the center of the hub?  I think it is 1-3/8 (the
only one I don't have, I got 1-5/16 and 1-7/16).  I would like to be
sure before I buy a new socket.
What type of oil goes in by the shift motor?  I replaced the shift motor
Just saw radiator water drop by the bell housing22 May 2004 07:28 GMT22
I just took the jeep out and on my way decided to pick up a jacket in my
other car.  Also I wanted to take a look at the U-Joint to see how it was
doing as I was hearing some noises.  As I look I see a drop of radiator
water fall right out of the end of the bell housing.  I watch ...
Just made almost $500.00 with my winch!22 May 2004 06:05 GMT30
So they are demolishing the houses on the other side of the street to
make 30 story 'condos'.
Folks have been scrounging lots of stuff so my wife and I decided to go
in one of the last ones last night just to look and down in the basement
Bullet Proof Bumpers22 May 2004 06:03 GMT6
This company has a very nice web site (http://www.bulletproofmfg.com) and
represents a highly desirable product.
I was all set to order front and rear FF1 series bumpers for my new Rubicon.
Trouble is, when I called the company, their number is disconnected! Not a
