What a dumb a.s12 Jun 2004 16:02 GMT43
Ok, I have to relay this experience I had today.
I'm on my way to work this morning on the freeway and I start to hear the
valves tapping.  I look over and my oil pressure is at 0.  Krap, so I pull
over immediately and pop the hood.  I have oil everywhere.  On the street,
idle idle idle sputter idle12 Jun 2004 15:57 GMT7
Yep.  My st00pid idle problem got the better of me so off
went the ZJ to a local wrencher (Sooner Auto).  Nice people
with a lot of experience.  They checked the injectors, compression,
fremble valves, and all were within spec.  Biggest problem was my

Jeep passed state safety "inspection"!12 Jun 2004 14:26 GMT12
WHOO HOO!  My inspection ran out at the end of last month and I was
really worried about passing.  I redid the front and rear brakes since
the brakes were really bad on it and also replaced the windshield
wipers since they ALWAYS seem to want to replace mine on whatever

32's on an unlifted TJ for a while?12 Jun 2004 02:53 GMT18
I am gonna buy some tires soon.  I regeared my '97 TJ to 4.10, so obviously
large tires are possible on that front at least.  However, I cannot due to
numerous reasons lift the Jeep any time soon.  Plus, I have  a 35c rear axle.
SO, I'm debating over getting 31's and running them ...
BFG MT's  vs.  Goodyear MT/R's11 Jun 2004 18:01 GMT27
Size will most likely be 31's, vehicle is a '97 TJ 4.0L.  Gearing 4.10.  I want
an aggressive tire that wears well on-road, is not obnoxiously noisy, and works
great in slick mud and wet snow.  Which is better?

"Finding 3rd gear" on a CJ711 Jun 2004 15:25 GMT4
I was driving an 83 CJ-7 with a T-5 5-speed the other day and it the
transmission worked very well, no grinding into gears, etc., except that
sometimes it was hard to "find" third. When moving the shift lever up from
second to third sometimes I missed getting it into gear and had to ...
More VW Diesel Knee-Slappers11 Jun 2004 15:02 GMT134
So, here we were waxing on the non-merits of Dr. Diesel's automotive curse
(the diesel engine) when my memory banks of VW diesel horror stories were
suddenly jolted loose and dislodged. Apparently the ill-advised proponents
of the proposition that passenger car diesels should again ...
Vac Leak11 Jun 2004 08:35 GMT6
Ok...here's a question? My jeep has a vac leak somewhere around the
firewall. I've checked and looked all over the place but can't find
