| Smooth driver | 21 Sep 2004 04:47 GMT | 9 |
While crossing Pennsylvania last week in my 2000 TJ, I found my gas cap sitting on top of my tail light when I stopped to fill up. Over 100 miles at freeway speeds, the cap remained on the tail light; however, the check engine light did not illuminate.

| '73 CJ cooling system pressure | 21 Sep 2004 04:34 GMT | 4 |
The cooling system in my '73 CJ5 with a 258 does not hold pressure. A new cap allows the system to vent through the overflow when it's hot. There are no external leaks and there is no coolant in the oil. The cap makes faint venting sounds when the upper radiator hose is squeezed.

| Front-End Shudder at freeway speeds | 21 Sep 2004 01:28 GMT | 5 |
I had the fluid changed out of the transfer case, tranny and both differentials on 89 4.2l Wrangler last week. When I drove it on the freeway for the first time since the fluid swap, I notice a shudder in the front-end when cruising at speeds in excess of 50 miles an hour.

| Best Cleaner for "Grit" on Car Body ? | 20 Sep 2004 16:38 GMT | 3 |
As I wash the lower panels of my 2000 JGC, I can feel what I can best describe as "grit" on the car finish. It is not visible to the eye, but when I rub my hand over it, the feeling is a bit like coarse sandpaper. I suspect it might be road tar, but I really don't know what it ...

| Your Jeep is a fueling station! | 20 Sep 2004 03:17 GMT | 5 |
Here's a cool tool you can make yourself: a tap line for your Jeep fuel injector rail that you can use to pump gasoline. During and after Hurricane Frances we were having to get 15 gallons/day of fuel into a portable generator, and shuttling that much via small
