transmission planning for a CJ719 May 2005 10:16 GMT21
The old T5 in the 83 CJ7 with 210K miles is getting a little old, just like
the rest of the jeep.  It is still working ok, so I am not in a rush, but I
would like to start looking for parts and getting ready to replace it.   I
plan on keeping the Jeep street legal, and street ...
power windows in XJ?19 May 2005 06:45 GMT1
I've got an 84 XJ and the power window switches keep acting up.  It appears
the connection on the back of them tends to work loose and/or corrode.  Any
suggestions on a) keeping them tight/clean and b) finding a cheap source for
the tiny clips that hold the socket onto it?  Last ...

TJ rim backspacing19 May 2005 05:00 GMT5
I was checking my rims and tires while they were off my jeep and I got to
thinking that I've read somewhere that rims for TJ's were supposed to have
3.5 inches of backspacing.  I have 33x12.50's on 15x10" Aluminum rims.  If I
remember right the backspacing on those is 4 inches.  ...
Just installed locker19 May 2005 04:48 GMT21
A friend of mine just sent me his "slightly used" Powertrax locker for my
Dana 35 (yes, Bill, I'll send you links of broken axles ;-)!)  I was going
to call the shop today to see how much it would cost to install it, and
decided to just do it myself instead.  Well, it took ...
CJ handling problems after 4" lift18 May 2005 20:29 GMT15
Sorry for the long post, but I've hit my mechanical ceiling......
Before: stock '85 CJ7, AMC-20, Dana 30, power steering, 7" rims, and 31x10.5
tires. Road handling was great.
"Upgrade": Installed 4" BDS lift which included: springs, shocks, 6"
TJ Drive shaft length18 May 2005 19:54 GMT1
I have pretzeled the front drive shaft of my 99 Jeep TJ ( 6 cyl manual) and
need to have a new tube cut.
Can someone measure the length of the TJ front drive shaft for me -- just
the tube from the weld on one yoke to the weld on the other yoke.
90 XJ 4.0L rocker trouble18 May 2005 17:36 GMT8
I changed my head gaskest and had the head checked at the shop (OK).  I
marked everything and placed the rockers in a ziplock per cylinder, and did
not disassemble the rocker/bridges/bolts, numbered them and closed them,
same with the pushrods.  Upon installation the some of the ...
YJ Springs in my CJ7?18 May 2005 15:55 GMT2
Two of my buddies have upgraded their YJ's (91+) to the Rubicon Express 4"
lift and their old leaf springs are just sitting around. They've offered to
donate them to my CJ (whose springs are nearly parallel with the ground) and
I'm wondering how well this will work. Mike, I've heard ...
Odor from 1996 AC evaporator18 May 2005 14:14 GMT5
I had a 1996 Laredo and in 1998, the evaporator was replaced on warrantee
because of a foul odor due to mold accumulating on the evaporator coils (I
was told).  It was always kept in the garage and not outdoors.
Around 2002, the odor returned, and I kept it at bay by frequently ...
REQ:  Stupid air intake question18 May 2005 13:51 GMT5
Hi ya'll
I purchased a 97 XJ and was taking a look over it.  I noticed the air
intake box draws it's air from the engine compartment under the hood.
Directly in front of it is a plate secured by two screws that will
grinding valves on M38 A1 possible?18 May 2005 13:23 GMT1
The camp I work for has a M38 A1 jeep with low compression. The engine runs
but doesn't have the power to climb our campus roads. We were considering
new rings to increase compression.
Someone told us that the valves on these were too thin to grind and so
Teraflex Sway Bar Disconnect Washer Fit?18 May 2005 12:50 GMT10
This past weekend, I replaced a broken sway bar end on my '99 TJ Sport
with a Teraflex quick disconnect kit.
To others who have used this kit, on your installation; did the washer
fit between the lower bushing and hitch pin?  Mine aren't even close, so
