Installing engine oil temperature gauge - TJ28 Aug 2005 00:03 GMT42
I want to install an engine oil temperature gauge on my '01 TJ without
having to drill a hole in the oil pan.  What is the easiest way of doing
this.  One of the local shops here suggested perhaps putting a tee on the
oil pressure hole on the block and see if it works.  I thought ...

Looking to replace my shocks and would like some advice.
I don't have a lift but want a decent replacement for my factory
shocks.  I really do not want to break the bank though.  Also, for the
rear I would like something with a coil over spring, I sort of remember

Is there such a thing as a " Japanese Jeep" ?26 Aug 2005 19:02 GMT68
http://www.luxuryimports.ca/forsale/1976J54-1/index.php
Note it says, "JEEP" and has the patented bar grille. Supposedly it is
legal to import this little guy into the US.  Is this kosher or some
kinf of scheme?
90 XJ Heat shielding26 Aug 2005 14:47 GMT12
Does anyone know what type of exhaust heat-shield was present on Cherokees
around 1990? Mine gets pretty warm on the passenger's floor near the tunnel.
I assume the CAT & exhaust may not be shielded properly anymore. I was going
to attempt to add some heat shield insulation from ...

Evil Handling TJ26 Aug 2005 14:35 GMT2
I've got a 98 TJ with a Teraflex lift with about 30K miles on it.  Lately I've
been noticing that the handling is getting down right spooky.  It feels like
there is a lot of slop in the suspension and any maneuver, turning, braking,
accelerating will make the Jeep do unpredictable ...

96 Grand Cherokee - Stalling... Replaced CPS .... Different stalling26 Aug 2005 06:51 GMT25
96 Grand Cherokee.
196K miles on it.
It was intermittantly dying with the RPMs dropping to zero immediately.
No rattle, no shake to suggest anything other than electric problem.
clutch question, manual tire changer question26 Aug 2005 04:59 GMT13
When I have to someday replace my clutch in my TJ, are there any "heavy
duty" clutches I can get for it?  Something that would grip a bit better
than stock?  I noticed I can't pull vehicles too large outta sand without
burning my stock one up a bit.
A list of TJ must-do maintenance items for newbies?26 Aug 2005 04:32 GMT14
I solved a case of "Death Wobble" that could have been prevented if I
had rotated the darn tires every 3000 miles.  Which is in the Factory
service manual.  But not in the specific schedules.  Even had I read
that, I probably would NOT have followed it because I would not have
Buncha questions about CJ engine swap.25 Aug 2005 21:59 GMT20
Hey Group,
 I've got a 84 CJ7 4.2 with a tired engine. I have the opportunity to pick
up a roll-over 91 Cherokee 4.0, 4wd. I've been toying with the idea of
putting a 4.0 head on the 4.2 but am not crazy about plugging cooling ports

'88 YJ sputtering question25 Aug 2005 18:35 GMT4
I have a '88 YJ with the 4.2 liter inline 6.  The engine does have
quite a few miles on it but seems to do alright.  The question I have
is why would it hesitate and sputter at low rpm's when I load the
engine?  For example, when starting out from a stop?  The Carter BBD I
towing a Wrangler25 Aug 2005 17:24 GMT16
We're about to buy a motorhome and tow a Jeep Wrangler with it.
I've been reading that Jeep recommends that the Wrangler be towed with
the transfer case in neutral and the standard transmission in 5th or 6th
gear.  I have also heard horror stories about what happens if the
