A/C runs for a while then stops cooling. I think I've heard this is core freezing or something to that effect? Is this something I can fix on my own? thanks.

I have an 88 yj with a 4.2. Recently my battery slid forward and the metal bracket that was supposed to keep it in place bumped the positive side of the battery. It hit right on the terminal and now it is melted a little bit and deformed. Now all my electric components
