Thunder Races04 Oct 2004 20:12 GMT10
Was watching Thunder races today (the 360 degree one), and Rachel Simmonite
was showing the lads round the course.
Near the end she said "youll have to do a handbrake turn here" and it then
cut to her pulling the handbrake up.........
2000-2004 Range Rover help04 Oct 2004 13:22 GMT1
Would someone please tell me what the major changes are in the Range
Rover from 2000 to 2004?  I'm looking at used ones and wonder if there
is a year to avoid and if there are any body changes in those years?
Misfire - can anyone help?   (long-ish)04 Oct 2004 10:38 GMT12
I've picked up a bit of a misfire on my SIII with an '86 RR V8 (carb
version) in it.  Low RPM is fine, but get her up to 3k or so and there's a
change in the exhaust note (disappears if I ease off - i.e. the misser
re-lights) and a definite feeling through the superstructure of one ...

Just got back from a brilliant day at the Abingdon 4X4 Festival.
We were looking some sort of Land Rover event as a birthday treat for
our Landy loving <shrug?>daughter's 14th birthday and some kind soul
from this list not only told me about the Abingdon gig but also

engine stands03 Oct 2004 15:57 GMT2
I just bought one of those "Clarke" engine stands, to make life more
comfortable while working on the 200Tdi engine rebuild project. The
engine is dangling off the hoist - what do I fasten the stand TOO ? The
bell housing studs that joined on the gear box ?

Just a quickie: does a gearbox on an early 90 come out through the cab, or
from underneath ?
Cheers,
Icky.

Seat belt anchor - any ideas??03 Oct 2004 12:37 GMT4
I want to put a forward facing seat in the back of my 90, it will be
possible to easily remove this by pulling out a pin along the side of the
seat where it mounts to the top of the wheel box.  I do want a seat belt to
go with this and it will have to be a three point mounting.
disco engine in 101 ambi03 Oct 2004 11:42 GMT39
Decisions, decisions.
Should I keep the 101 LT95 gear box or use the gearbox off the disco on
the 101 transfer box.
The donor vehicle is a 1991 Disco, will that be an LT85 or an LT77 box
Welding my Series III03 Oct 2004 10:13 GMT2
Well I decided toweld my Series up on the chassis like some of  you
suggested. I have used 3 mm plate and seam welded it, it looks fairly neat.
However I have a question.
I blew a little hole along one seam and so simply very carefully filled it

Watching the 4x4 is born tonight and it crossed my mind.
Basic spec using axles, steering  and running gear from a donor
Whaaddaya reckon?
Would of course be a "Q" plate but hey! ... thats a point.. do they still do
SUV's vs proper Utes03 Oct 2004 09:20 GMT6
I am sure this will stir up a hornets nest of partisan posts from those who
love there SUV's
But my opinion is that though they are capable of off road use, they are not
really intended for it, with all that trim and bits that can fall off, get
