RR 4.0 gone musical26 Nov 2004 18:37 GMT5
After turning off the motor of my '98 RR 4.0 after a 1/2 hr drive, a
distinct 'musical' note comes from the rear of the vehicle. It's somewhere
around G above middle C, and gradually dies away after 5 minutes or so. The
car doesn't drop noticeably either.
Advice Please26 Nov 2004 18:33 GMT24
I am thinking about buying a Discovery 300 TDI ES but cant decide whether to
go for manual or auto.
Most of my driving is around town, but I do occasionally pull a 25ft
caravan.
CHAVS!!26 Nov 2004 16:52 GMT50
Agh.
Just been out to clean my car and have found that someone has scratched the
word that describs a computer user with no training on the boot.
Loos like it has been done with a key or something.

Automatic Freelander26 Nov 2004 13:28 GMT5
I have recently got a Freelander diesel automatic and this is the first
automatic I have ever had.
When I am running along at, say, 55mph  the rev counter shows around the
2000 rpm mark.
Hypothetical 10126 Nov 2004 12:30 GMT67
Just hypothetically, if somebody were toying with the idea of buying a
101, where would be the best place to look?
Have any/many of them been converted to modernish diesels such as
200/300tdi?

very old RR 4 speed box into 11026 Nov 2004 07:21 GMT8
Have a problem.  Got a 1975 RR engine and gearbox but the box won't
fit my 1984 110 according to the mechanic.  It's the same box and
transfer (albeit with different output gearing) but the problem is the
handbrake.  Even by swapping my linkage over to the replacement box it

Help! I've been searching for a good second hand 90 for a while and now I
have the choice of two, a 98 Defender 300 Tdi or a 99 TD5. Both are in good
condition, have covered approximately 50,000 miles and will be used for
general transport with some light off road work. The Td5 ...

all the usual "how many seats? we can't quote if you've got more than 8...)
how can this be a problem? csw's have existed for longer than most of these
crummy insurance companies anyway! any advice gratefully ...
FREELANDER Pre-Heater25 Nov 2004 14:07 GMT7
Have just had an answer to a previous question regarding noises which
materialise as Pre-Heater noises on my TD4 LS Freelander. How does
this Pre-Heater work. Many thanks for the original answer to Paula but
I was unaware that I had a Pre-heater!
