OT but weird31 Dec 2004 17:16 GMT24
I have heard that the recent Tsunami has resulted in the rotational speed of
the world shifting slightly and has knocked the sat nav satellites out of
kilter!!
Dunno by how much, but it goes to show the size of the quake!!

RR Classic: battery drain30 Dec 2004 17:49 GMT6
I have a RR 1992 Classic and just had a major service including new battery
installed.  After adding a second amplifier to my stereo (all after-market
stuff since I pulled my Rover components) my battery drained overnight.  Is
this is a known issue?  Perhaps someone can send me a ...
Discovery price estimate - help please!30 Dec 2004 16:16 GMT7
I have an opportunity to buy a Land Rover Discovery, 2000 model, with very
low mileage, less than 10,000 miles on the clock. I know its history,
mileage is genuine and there is a good reason why its so low - the vehicle
has not been on the road since early 2001.
V8 Engine Cleaning and parts30 Dec 2004 14:49 GMT14
Construction of my coffee table (Scrap V8)  has been underway for a week.
The bloke I got it from wanted rid of it, and it used oil and water like
they were going out of fashion.
I'm already fed up off trying to clean the engine to something half decent
RRC Rear upper tailgate locks30 Dec 2004 13:36 GMT4
RRC, 1991.
The tailgate lock has started to stop working when using the central
locking. I can hear the 'clonk' as the tailgate lock activates with the
central locking but it does not lock the upper tail gate, I can still open

When towing a 90/110/classic Range Rover (with manual diff lock not viscous)
it says a prop shaft should be removed so the centre diff/gearbox doesnt
overheat. I know in normal running the gearbox has a pump but if the
transfer box and main gearbox (auto or manual) is in neutral ...
noisy V830 Dec 2004 10:56 GMT5
Yesterday morning I started my 1998 4.6 P38 for the first time in several
days.
All was normal until as I pulled away a nasty loudish knocking or more like
a clacking noise came from the engine. Easing off the throttle made it go

Disco Window lift ECU 30 Dec 2004 09:09 GMT1
Ladies and gents,
Wondering where I can get a "window life ecu" for my '95 disco?
I have repaired it a few time previously, but alas some transistors (without
markings - of course) have finally given up the ghost. . .
Discovery alternator30 Dec 2004 09:09 GMT1
Is it possible to change the bearings on '95 (V8) Discovery alternator? I
have a strange noise coming from the front and I have traced it to the
alternator, it still works fine.
Thanks
Stranded - Series III30 Dec 2004 03:25 GMT8
Having some grief at Christmas with the Series III.
2 1/4 petrol (early), starts like a dream, runs well, then, when
stopping in traffic etc cuts out.
Will not re-start for 10-15 minutes.  Turns over, battery fine, will
What did you get for Christmas, anything to do with Land Rovers?30 Dec 2004 01:28 GMT20
Was it, or could it be Land Rover related?
Have you broken it yet, if not, have you tried? Anyone working outside
in this weather bolting their bits on?
I got a rather tasty selection of miniature single malts, a useful
Starting diesel ??30 Dec 2004 00:24 GMT2
A few posts ago someone said that a direct injection diesel ( eg 300 Tdi )

more easily than what system and  what actually is direct injection/ is it
the same as common rail diesel etc.
