alternator, split charge etc.26 Dec 2004 01:07 GMT5
I've fitted a new alternator (was almost a year ago now)
It has the usual terminals on the back and one for a rev counter.
I'm thinking of using a relay to split-charge to a second battery (for
lighting and other gubbins).
Longevity of 2.5n/a engine, and LT77 gearbox?25 Dec 2004 20:24 GMT3
I bought an older 110 a couple of years ago with 2.5n/a engine, and
LT77 gearbox. The vehicle only has 80,000 kms on it and runs very
well. Looks like the injector pump has been replaced. I replaced the
timing belt recently. THe gearbox shifts well, not really bad noises

Lpg Backfire???24 Dec 2004 19:55 GMT6
A couple of days ago my Disco blew back through the inlet side of the engine
whilst I was running on lpg at 90mph down hill wind at my tail ( very fast
but quite a low load).
It exploded the air box and made the engine run very rough at tick over.
It would happen just b4  Xmas24 Dec 2004 18:01 GMT12
Went out this morning to start the motor.
Chug.... chug.... chug....
Battery almost flat. No time to do usual checks - earth strap,
alternator voltage. Must have replacement as we're on standby because of
OT: Good riddance...24 Dec 2004 13:35 GMT38
Sort of 'off topic' anyway.
"A former West Wales media studies student considered so dangerous to
children by parents they established a "warning" website about him was

V8 won't accelerate24 Dec 2004 13:26 GMT21
I've recently had a 2nd hand engine fitted to my 110.  It has 34k
miles, but is an old V8 - 1975.  It wouldn't start on the carbs it had
fitted so my mechanic swapped them for my carbs, off my 1984 V8 and it
started straight away.
Cranking problem below 0 cured24 Dec 2004 13:26 GMT2
A time ago I asked for advice becaues my wifes Defender 90 2.5TD hat
problems cranking in the cold winter mornings.
It was not the battery, testing it showed no weakness. But when
checking the glow plugs, I found at the second one that it was totally
Pop quiz! 90/110 tyres sizes... working out gearing24 Dec 2004 10:46 GMT4
Just a quick Q...  (or two)
I'm just running some gear ratios thought excell for my 2A and I'm using
early 90/110 gearing as an example to check mine against. Did the 2 1/4
diesel 110 come as standard with 750R16 / 235/70R16 size tyres? And did the

Good evening to one and all, and a merry Landy Christmas to everyone. What
experience have people had with Range Rover axles or Land Rover axles and
LARGE tyre / wheel combinations, such as the U.S. type rock crawlers, with
tyres sizes over 35 inch dia and what sort of mods can be ...

LR drivers ..... old farts  ??23 Dec 2004 22:10 GMT25
I must be getting to be Victor Meldrew or a totally intolerant old fart.
Just picked up son 3 from his minature railway job and in the 8 miles it
took to drive there and back, every yobbo seemed to crawl out of the
woodwork.
