Bull bars ban (UK)?08 Jun 2005 13:48 GMT18
Thoughts?  This reads as if it's no longer a proposal but actually will
become law from next January.  What does retroactive mean here?  Does it
only apply to new cars, or does it mean that cars already fitted with them
can keep them?  (I've never wanted bull bars, but if it will ...
Nuts, Screws, and Bolts08 Jun 2005 02:19 GMT12
Does anyone know of a cross reference between Land Rover part numbers and
the actual size and types of nuts bolts and screws.  There are occasional
references to size and type in the Illustrated Parts Catalogue, but I really
don't fancy going through the whole thing to try and find ...

Just heard on the news that the government are to set up a GPS based system
that tracks every vehicle - Speed - direction - position.
Enabling instant traffic fines, pinpointing every vehicles movements and
charging for road use over the entire UK road network.

Need good tow vehicle - 110/RR?07 Jun 2005 17:43 GMT39
Hi all again ;)
I mistakenly sold my 1984 110V8CSW as it needed some work doing,
px'ing it for a Jeep Cherokee 4l '97 facelift.  The Jeeps a nice car
but it won't tow the mobile espresso trailer, which weighs 2 tons.  It
Roof racks on defenders bolted down?07 Jun 2005 15:08 GMT5
List,
Are roof racks on defenders usually bolted down in the gutter?  I'm
asking because I've been proposed one that does.  It's a bit old but in
good shape apart from some of the legs being slightly bent.
Diff filler plug torque settings, anyone?07 Jun 2005 13:43 GMT2
HBOL doesn't list it, and the 22lb/ft for the gearbox and transfer box
fillers seems too loose on the diff plugs (110, Salisbury back axle).
The rear diff oil was fairly clean, but the front was almost black. Is
this normal? The swivels are greased, which made me wonder if grease ...
SA import Defender 90 2.8i petrol07 Jun 2005 07:17 GMT29
We have a customer with one of these who thinks she is going to need a
cat fitted in order to get through the emissions test at her next MoT.
As this is somewhat esoteric a vehicle in the UK our normal distributors
have drawn a blank as to sourcing a cat, anybody got any ideas as ...
Freelander TD4 power problem - car slows down in 5th gear!!!06 Jun 2005 22:57 GMT3
My manual TD4 has suddenly (well, that's how it seems) become very sluggish.
It now takes an eternity to accelerate through gears 1 to 4, and not until
around 2500 revs does there seem to be any power (turbo kicks in?).
I can be doing 55mph in 4th, change up to 5th and, with my ...
110 Drop arm ball joint-How difficult?06 Jun 2005 22:04 GMT12
In between the rain which according to the BBC is down in Cornwall(I'm in
Staffordshire and its p***ing down!), I'm working my way through jobs for
MOT.
Most of them are run of the mill jobs which I've done before, but it's
diseasel06 Jun 2005 22:00 GMT7

4-cylinder NA, Bosch pump similar to the 200/300 TDi ones.
the other day, it dropped onto 3 cylinders.  Pulled into a layby, found
nothing obvious wrong, and continued, and shortly the 4th pot re-asserted
