| Discovery TD5 engine oil & filter change | 05 Nov 2005 13:28 GMT | 3 |
Is the engine oil & filter change on a Disco TD5 just a straight drain and re-fill? Seem to remember having an engine at sometime, might have been a V8, where if you left it too long to re-filling, the oil pump needed priming.

| Series 3 Flasher unit | 05 Nov 2005 13:00 GMT | 7 |
Looking at the Haynes wiring diagram for my 1981 series 3 the flasher unit should only have 2 wires connected to it. But looking at the flasher unit installed it has 4 wires attached to it. The new 2 pin flasher unit I bought won't work with the Dark green and light

| Disco TD5 - New tyres which axle ? | 05 Nov 2005 10:20 GMT | 18 |
OK - two brand new tyres (8mm tread), and two part worn (4mm tread). Where do you put the new tyres - front axle or rear ? Reason for question - tyre dealers suggestion runs contrary to what I'd expect so what's your view and why?

| ZF 4th gear lock up | 04 Nov 2005 22:00 GMT | 2 |
Running an auto at about 80kph (50mph) on unsealed roads. The gearbox seems to be changing to third, then bach to 4th all the time. If I run at about 85kph it seems to stay in 4th gear. Can the gearbox be 'fixed' to stay in 4th gear. (RR 300Tdi, ZF, standard wheels)

| Oil specifications | 04 Nov 2005 11:22 GMT | 10 |
Looking in my TD5 Handbook, it quotes ACEA B1 & B2 engine oils as suitable. What about B3? Does this just at least comply with the other B1 & B2? Cheers.
