Stolen Landy - rather distinctive!27 Nov 2005 16:30 GMT4
See http://www.yachtinguniverse.com/print.php?sid=3389
I know this charity from my sailing and hospital connections - they do a
fabulous job supporting those who are affected by cancer and I'm livid that
some scumbag should nick their transport.
Dim charging light27 Nov 2005 15:46 GMT3
As a follow up to one of my earlier posts.
The dim charging light got slightly brighter.
The battery got flatter.
The 110 wouldn't start!
eBay cold shudder of the week: 459212818827 Nov 2005 15:08 GMT1
As the owner of just one 19J (running quite nicely thank you), I'm now
heading for nervous-wreckdom. But I had a good smile too...
Regards,
Simonm.
Freelander, alarm on for 2 weeks (holiday) falt when returned!27 Nov 2005 14:32 GMT3
I recently went away on holiday, left my Freelander locked with the alarm
on, was away just over 2 weeks. Landrover assured me the battery would cope
with the drain for 2 weeks no problems!
Not the case I'm afraid, this happened last year too, I replaced the battery

Several of you will have met my younger son, Jonathan, 5; and I know you
will all wish him well, as he goes into hospital (Alder Hey) today for
major surgery on his hip tomorrow morning. After that (and two days or
so on morphine....heyyyyy) he is in a Spica or frog cast for ...
Ignition lock problem26 Nov 2005 23:44 GMT20
Suddenly the key will not turn in the ignition lock of my 1997 Disco
TDI. The key goes in freely but refuses to turn, same result with the
key I normally use and the less used spare. Anyone have any ideas?

Just a seasonal thought26 Nov 2005 23:06 GMT6
Hands up all those with pressure washers?
Have you remembered to fully drain them before you put them away in the shed
/garage? ( pipes off turn on side to remove any water/detergent/whatever)
Probably a good time to check!
Proud of the new club site!26 Nov 2005 23:05 GMT12
Well Martyn's been busy , more to get the membership renewals up on line but
the rest of the sites structure is looking good.
I especially like the random picture function :0) ... nothing to do with a
piccy of Morph as a Baby being on there you see!
What Causes Head Gaskets to Go - Is it avoidable?26 Nov 2005 21:38 GMT27
What is people's experience. Is it 'abuse' or inevitable on a
particular engine.
The 1.8 Freelander engines are obviously a bit prone to it but the same
engine didn't have problems in the Rover cars so this would indicate
over-spray26 Nov 2005 12:28 GMT8
Friend has just bought a cheap (silver) 4x4 from an auction.
What appeared to be dust all over the glass, etc. has turned out be
over-spray from a really cheap 'n' dodgy bonnet respray.
Anybody got an any ideas on how to best remove it?
Diff Lock Seized26 Nov 2005 12:10 GMT16
Thanks for the earlier replies ref the thermostat, will check it out in the
morning.
The only other problem with the car (which is otherwise in great nick for
under £3k!) is that I can't engage the diff-lock. The lever won't push
Drivers footwell flooding add-on25 Nov 2005 23:58 GMT2
OK Judith the sealant I used is made by a company named "Granvile" and is on
a card covered with a clear plastic bubble. It is about the size of a large
toothpaste. I would imagine that most silicon sealants would do the same but
I can vouch for this stuff.
fuel-burning heater25 Nov 2005 23:57 GMT25
is it the freeloader TD4 that has a diesel-burning heater to supplement the
normal one?
if it's gonna be cold, I wouldn't mind one on the minibus... anyone know if
this is so or if it's available either new or s/h and how much?
[slightly off] recycling brake fluid25 Nov 2005 21:36 GMT1
No, I'm not planning to re-use it myself!
Thing is, I've had a few sets of brakes to bleed recently, resulting in
about 2-3 pints of bled-off fluid.
Last time I went to the dump I forgot to take it with me, but asked the
Disco still not getting warm?25 Nov 2005 21:22 GMT8
Had the Disco in to the garage as it wasn't warming up, it needed loads of
water in the cooling system, a bleed through and a new temp gauge sender
unit. Gauge now rises to the normal mid point after a run but the heater is
still blowing cold in the cabin. If I accelerate I hear ...
