Disco 200 Tdi alternator left hand fit?27 Mar 2006 10:51 GMT2
I need a new alternator on a 200TDi Disco. The parts manual and John
Craddock website mention that their part RTC5681 is left hand fit (LH).
This confuses me a bit, does this mean there is also a RH fit, and how do I
know which one I have?
Re-powering a Disco 1 4.0L =>TD527 Mar 2006 10:44 GMT4
I'd like to know if anyone on this NG has re-powered a Disco Series 1
from 4.0L to a TD5? If so, how difficult was it?
Mine has the R380 gearbox and LT230 transfer case.

Oh well my new Disco decided to drop a light tonight,
The headlight - Drivers side. It is the plastic mount that the spear thing
fits into. You can pull the headlight forward and it is the three pronged
plastic thing. Anyway it has snapped. It has two screws you can undo - is it
Defender rear axle spring mounts26 Mar 2006 23:33 GMT3
I've been attempting to part the rather rusted spring mount from the
axle (drum braked) and unfortunately the bolt sheared before the rust
gave way on the thread. Upshot is I've got to get the bolt out, however
I understand that the nut is captive to the axle bracket (not just by ...

Sunroof leaks26 Mar 2006 12:11 GMT2
I have a 2001 LR Discovery II and started having sunroof leaking
problems. By a search on google it seems that I could have clogged
drain pipes. The problem is that I can't find anyone who has listed how
they found the drain pipes and what I have to take apart in order to
Smug LPG users26 Mar 2006 09:26 GMT19
Don't forget that diesel was a quarter the price of petrol before it become
popular. LPG will go the same way, tax wise if it ever becomes popular
enough to have filling stations closer than every 200 miles. Then the price
of barbeque'ing will go up. If the governments were ...

Series 2a rebuild25 Mar 2006 15:18 GMT13
1966-7 series 2a 88" +ve earth historic tax status
I'm seriously costing the whole project now. I'm planning to take it off the
road in mid July and take perhaps 6 months over the rebuild. My MOT place
has hinted it can't consider allowing the chassis through another test after

110 rolling chassis25 Mar 2006 11:47 GMT17
don't suppose any of you has one, with an identity, and ideally a decent
TDi?
Alternatively, a complete 110, body condition immaterial but in sound
mechanical order?
Renault?  Defender25 Mar 2006 09:07 GMT12
I caught a glimpse of a Blue Defender on Thursday morning.  It was
travelling in the opposite direction so I didn't get a good look.  Anyhow,
the front grille was slighly more proud than standard and it had what looked
like the Renault logo on the front.
110 question24 Mar 2006 23:47 GMT4
I thinking about a 110 TD but this beastie needs  bottom end work the
suggestion was I could do it with the engine in? So sump off ends and
bearings off but to pull out the crankshaft do I need to split off the
gearbox cos I can't see how else I could separate the flywheel.
210 vs Politicians gas guzzlers !24 Mar 2006 22:06 GMT7
What a bunch of b)*&^ hypocrytes. They have a choice big car / little car
guess what they choose ( remember we tax insure and run it for them ) I'm in
the wrong job, I think I'd like to vote my own salary, get a free car, a
nice expense account and bonk the hired help as well  !!
