3.9i V824 Apr 2006 20:03 GMT3
I have a Discovery 3.9i (1995). 75,000 miles. Does this engine suffer from
the cylinder liner problem? The reason I ask is that a while ago it was
using a little water but that seemed to have stopped.
The engine has always been smooth and quiet (although not as powerful as my

Lead lined engine blanket/soundproofing?24 Apr 2006 19:21 GMT6
Anybody know of someone who can supply lead-lined engine
soundproofing?
It's not for an engine bay, rather to soundproof a static engine in an
enclosure, so i need someone who can simply supply a sheet of the
heater matrix 200tdi Disco24 Apr 2006 18:59 GMT4
I need to change the heater matrix of my 200tdi Disco (with aircon), and
have a few questions.
1. What is the part number, when I look in the catalogue it states "less
aircon" for what I think is the correct part (STC770). Howver, the one
P38 4.0 any idea of price - potential new wagon24 Apr 2006 18:36 GMT2
My brother in laws colleague is swapping his range rover for a new one
and the Land Rover dealer is only going to give him £5500 for it.
Does anyone have an idea how much a 1998 4.0 is worth. I know it has
done 101,000 miles with a full service history and that's it. I don't

Quite an interesting site too, some "lads" (lots of wickeds and
larging it) but interesting reading.
Old tyres: marks on road/pavement?24 Apr 2006 08:22 GMT8
Hello peeps, I've noticed that my new toy is leaving tyre marks on the
neighbour's drive (I have to drive across part of their driveway to
get to the back of my house).  They've not complained but I like to
leave as little impact on others as I can, especially when they live
P38 water use!23 Apr 2006 22:19 GMT7
Been monitoring the coolant use for a while now, it uses about a half inch worth of coolant (on the
reservoir) for every thousand miles or so. It never overheats. I had a look near the interior heater &
it's a bit damp & it does smell slightly coolant like. I'll have the plugs ...
CD Changer Problem23 Apr 2006 22:04 GMT1
I have fitted a Philips R960 (same as those found in ES models) radio to my
Disco 1 in replacement of the standard fit Clarion tape deck.
Does anybody with this radio know how the tailgate subs and the steering
wheel audio connectors fit or where I can buy a converter from?  I can ...
advice on cylinder head please!23 Apr 2006 21:22 GMT18
Finally got around to removing the cylinder head today on the S2 (2.25
petrol, 3 bearing).  A few oddities (Haynes has more head bolts than
my engine does!), but not too bad.  Almost put my back out lifting the
bugger of course...
Cant Lock the Diff23 Apr 2006 17:20 GMT4
I have a 96 Disco which I bought about 2 months ago.
I have noticed that I cannot put the transfer lever into the "diff lock"
position.  I have tried whilst the main box is in neutral, whilst the clutch
it down and whilst moving when in both high ratio, low ratio and when
removing engine valves23 Apr 2006 11:47 GMT7
Not sure if this warrants a new thread, but here goes...
Got a valve spring compressor (cheap garbage) now.  I'm possibly being
thick, but how do the damned valves come apart?  How much am I
supposed to have to compress the spring?
I want a Landrover, but I know nothing about them23 Apr 2006 11:35 GMT4
I want to buy a Landrover, but I am not mechanically minded and I know
nothing about Landrovers.
I live not far away from a spares centre, so can get things for one.
If things in the engine really are simple, I might be able to do them ...
