I have a 1984 110 V8 which gives around 14 mpg at the moment, independent of driving style. What can I do to improve this without spending too much money? The carbs were recently replaced with good second hand units, but these haven't been balanced - would that help?

Price of diesel here in Norfolk continues to rise at an alarming rate. Filled up yesterday at 97.9 per litre. MPG for the LR90 is quite good at just under 30 with a light right foot and reasonable

I am replaving the chassis on my 110. Removed all bolts hoding the body to the chassis, hand brake cable etc etc etc. So now ready to lift the body off, only have a trolley jack and axle stands.

I've spent this afternoon changing oil and filters ( and some other stuff ) and as usual the last service was done using a mountain gorilla to nip up the oil filter.So tight in fact that stitching on the webbing of the trusty oil filter wrench snapped . I had to dig out a bike ...

aarrgh, found another, more serious looking leak at the front of the engine. It's running down the fron RH (as you look at the engine) side & dripping onto the steering rods. It could be from the water pump, but it doesnt look like it. Any ideas for what it could be? Ta

I'm busy fitting new head gaskets to my 3.9 V8, they are the composite ones with ally circles on one side and a more complex pattern of circles and tracks on the other side. Which side goes against the block ?
