Pistons...15 May 2006 21:37 GMT10
So my frothy coolant/head gasket change has revealed a cracked piston,
so I've decided whilst all the top and sump are off, to replace all
four, the bores all look in pretty good condition so it shouldn't be to
much of a drama, thing is the pistons all have 020 stamped on them.
P38 EFI rocker cover gasket replacement15 May 2006 19:44 GMT17
Hi group,
This weekend I am, amongst lots of other jobs, going to replace my
rocker cover gaskets on my 1998 V8 P38. I thought my (most major) oil
leak was the valley gasket but it now looks more like the rocker cover

Lake District National Park Authority - Well done!15 May 2006 10:42 GMT28
Just received a letter (actually two) from the LDNPA, presumably
as a former pass holder for Garburn Pass.
It details the NERC bill, what it means, what they are doing about
it and gives full details of all BOAT's. UCR's etc that are closing
Comparing off-road sites15 May 2006 08:11 GMT9
It sometimes seems difficult to get a feel for what the different off-
road sites are like. Even when there are lots of photographs, they tend
to be short on context.
And there seems to be a fascination with mud.
MOT legal enquiry15 May 2006 07:04 GMT10
Does anyone know what is the legal situation if my MOT were to run out while
I were in hospital or otherwise unable to drive as the result of an
operation. Tax would still be valid as this is not concurrent with my MOT,
but this situation might occur in August.
Any one know the length of 109 roof?14 May 2006 23:09 GMT3

Classic V8 Fuel Consumption.14 May 2006 21:25 GMT7
I'm bewildered to say the least by the difference in fuel consumtion between
my two Range Rover V8 Classics.
My auto 3.5 V8 does, on average, between 12 and 17 mpg, no matter what
treatment it gets. If it's used on the motorway extensively, cruising at
Disco II recommendations Pt 214 May 2006 19:11 GMT8
Disco II Td5.  A small power boost would be nice!
I've seen several chips advertised in the press.  Has anyone had any
real-world experience of any of them (or done vast amounts of research into
torque curves etc) and would care to share it?  I've heard that the standard

FTAGH: ex army fuel tank14 May 2006 14:44 GMT2
I have a front fuel tank from an ex army 110 up for grabs.
It's explo-foil filled (by the army) and undersealed.
I've tried selling it and no-ones interested but SWMBO says it has to
go as it's not a pretty garden ornament.
P38- faded plastic grille14 May 2006 12:55 GMT9
Plastic radiator grille has gone a bit pale & washed out- from the sun
maybe?
Has anyone tried anything to rejuvenate it- perhaps something along the
lines of Armorall Matt?
oil everywhere breather problem?14 May 2006 12:33 GMT3
I was driving along and things did not sound right to begin with, then I
smelt burning and pulled over in a layby in time to see smoke coming through
the vents.
There was oil everywhere, it seems to have come from the filler vent. The
Bloody Chassis!13 May 2006 23:10 GMT3
Well it appears my reckoning that my Range Rover chassis was worth £50 was
well wide of the mark. In fact, it seems it isn't even worth 99p! No bloody
bids on a 99p auction for the flipping thing, it must be worth a tenner to
weigh in ffs.
