Just wanted to say this is still one of the most helpful and informative newsgroups that I know. As soon as I've got another Landie I'll be back ... you have been warned :-) Until then keep the faith.

I've just acquired a 200Tdi intercooler - rumour has it that it's a useful addition to a TD engine - has anyone got any first hand experience of doing this and if it's worth the effort?

Which gearbox is which on 200/300tdi RR/Disco/Defender? I have a 1990 Classic fitted with a 300tdi from a Defender. The gearlevers are significantly in the wrong place, compared with a Disco. I also have a spare gearbox from a 200Tdi Discovery, the

Just collected the new truck and find out that it has locking wheel nuts on, did the seller include the key, did he hell! So now what, he claims he can't find it anywhere. I heard once that it is possible to hammer a socket onto the nut but it will no doubt wreck the socket in ...

| Engine numbers | 28 Apr 2007 19:14 GMT | 18 |
I used to have a link to a site that listed Landrover engine numbers but it's gone astray. I've got a messed-with Defender to do some work on and I'm trying to make sure I've identified the engine correctly (a V8). I *think* it's a 3.9 but I want to be sure. Can anyone help ...

| New defender | 28 Apr 2007 15:42 GMT | 10 |
Re-reading the Autocar full road test I notice the overall consumption whilst on test was 19.3 mpg with the best being 27.6 mpg and the worse 15.6 how does that compare with the figures for the TD5? Does not sound too good to me even though my old 90's a 2.5 petrol.

| towing and engine temperature 300 TDi Disco | 28 Apr 2007 13:40 GMT | 25 |
I towed a club dive boat back from Plymouth to the Midlands on Sunday and so pressed the right pedal harder than usual. The temperature gauge went up above the usual rock steady horizontal to the top of the white sector so I slowed up a bit and whacked the heater

| What's this bit do? | 27 Apr 2007 20:16 GMT | 5 |
Was crawling around under a Disco 1 this lunchtime. There is an odd 'wheel' thing mounted near the bottom of the steering coloumn and near the end of the steering damper. It is about 6" across and 1" thick, looks heavy and didn't turn when I touched it.... Looked almost as if it ...

| defender radiator question | 27 Apr 2007 19:08 GMT | 2 |
Am in need of some information. What I need is a radiator for a Defender, however it must be rated well and truly above the 200 tdi radiator currently in use. Had a google but finding specs on radiators is not easy.
