Identifying the noise from Differential? Wheel Bearing?  ???  RRC27 Apr 2007 13:33 GMT11
My 1990 RRC 3.9 Auto was making a rumbly-whining sound from what I
thought was O/S/F on left bends so I assumed a tired O/S/F wheel bearing
and made a mental note to do something one day.
The noise is now much louder and occurs even when travelling straight
FREE - Lightweight gearbox - ST20 - Staffordshire27 Apr 2007 12:06 GMT6
I've got a series gearbox in the garage that was brought as a spare
"just in case" - I keep tripping over it and i could do with the space
so if anyone wants to collect it your welcome to it.
Apparently it came out of a lightweight with less than 10K on the

Nothing to do with me by the way but this would make nice summer fun, I have

tempted.

Discovery window26 Apr 2007 19:37 GMT1
The front passenger side window on my 1995 Discovery went down ok but when I
press the button for it to come up it only moves by about 6" then stops
dead. It looks like it may have come out of the guide? Is this possible?
Will have to take the trim off tomorrow to have a look but ...
Sankey 12-pin socket26 Apr 2007 19:11 GMT3
A friend has just bought a Sankey type trailer which has the 12-pin plug
on it, and rather than rewire it to a standard caravan socket he is keen
to fit the traditional Sankey socket and maintain the waterproofness.
Does anybody know the best place to obtain the 12-pin socket ...
Off the road but sadly not "off-roading"26 Apr 2007 18:44 GMT9
Help!! I have managed to overheat (and partly melt!) my 300TDi
Discovery engine so it is sat in a garage not being used. Any advice
as to the most cost effective way to repair/replace the engine. Where
can I get a secondhand replacement engine or reconditioned engine? Any
Should TD5 fuel pump, pump out if the filter is removed and key to II26 Apr 2007 00:03 GMT4
I've gone through I think all the posts but cannot find the answer to
this.
Should TD5 fuel pump, pump out if the filter is removed and key to II
on a Discovery TD5 (December 2002)?
Disco front axle play25 Apr 2007 16:50 GMT3
How much play should there be in a Disco1 front axle? I've got about
10degrees at the propshaft, and a bit of a clunk when taking up drive
suddenly. Better off looking at new bushes or having the diff/cv's
out?

Discovery 'Aveimore'???25 Apr 2007 07:51 GMT1
Hi, can anyone tell me what if anything is 'special' about this Discovery
model which I think was released about 1997 or 1998?  I gather it was based
on the 'GS' model, but am not very clear what identified that.
How many Aviemores were there?
Items "kept just in case"24 Apr 2007 21:46 GMT4
In the spirit of LR owners, what have you got lurking in the shed
"just in case".
At the moment I own a 1986 110, but I've got:-
2 x series 2 gearboxes (I've not got a series LR anymore - but might

Completely OT: Immigration24 Apr 2007 14:30 GMT19
Article on t'BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6577625.stm
Says that, according to a "think tank", immigration has reached the
point where Britain "could no longer be seen as a single nation".
Two points: one, it isn't anyway, it is a political union of three
