Swivel joint pre-load29 Aug 2009 13:03 GMT1
Can this be done on the car, or do the swivels have to be removed?
The last time I did it was off the car in the garage but it was part of
a complete refurbishment of the swivel on my son's car.
Cheers

I have a J reg (91) Defender 90 that I'm about to fit an auxiliary
tank to.  The tank is fitted under the passenger side (it's a "handed"
version of the standard one under the drivers side).  To get it to fit
as far up as possible ( and so give as much ground clearance as

Day trip to Warsaw....21 Aug 2009 18:19 GMT9
Well all I can say is Land Rover really can build cars that work :) 2300
miles, no dramas, no problems - and an average of 18.9mpg which is not
bad when you consider how much autobahn/de-restricted roads there were
and we were tootling on the limiter (135mph).

AKA 50th Anniversary Defender 90 with 4.0 litre V8
It has the normal viscous fan behind the radiator but also an electric
fan in front which never seems to come on. Of course now I can't
remember if t ever did esp as someone told me it only comes on with the

'93 Defender 90 200TDi
Took the two bolts out of the top of the front hubs to get the brake pipe
bracket off so I could shift the brake caliper so I could swap the discs.
Towing Electrics17 Aug 2009 14:50 GMT14
Just fitted a new socket on the back.  The old one was rusted.  Have
carefully checked all connections and everything works except the nearside
rear light.  Can't see any obvious break so must be somewhere in the loom
and I do not have the expertise to find out where.

RRC dilemma15 Aug 2009 13:48 GMT2
I've got a 1993 RRC with a 200Tdi. It had a replacement (Discovery)
engine last February and that's fine but it's showing its age
(approaching 150,000 miles) in lots of other places. Steering,
suspension and brakes could do with attention (I think, based on

Thankfully the gearbox on the new toy seems OK, will add some synthetic
gearbox oil and see how it fares, off-road it was fine and never crunched
once, only seems to be quick changes from 1st to 2nd in high range that
trouble it.

It takes a special form of genius to design a hydraulic system wherein the
reservoir is the highest point, the slave cylinder the lowest, and yet it
still won't bleed successfully without the use of a pressure bleeder.

Windscreen shipped internationally?15 Aug 2009 13:37 GMT9
As the title may be hinting, I'm looking for a windscreen for my 1988
Def/90. Beamends doesn't ship glass (neither does Craddock), which makes
sense, although I
could actually risk ordering three items, hope that one arrives intact and
