| 99 miata w/automatic | 30 Nov 2006 22:32 GMT | 10 |
i was looking at much newer miata's when i came across a 1999 w/auto trans w/44k miles.(anniversery edition) i've normally prefered a stick especially since the auto's don't seem to excite too many in the area of performance. if i get this one what could i do to get more

| Cost for crank angle sensor | 30 Nov 2006 21:54 GMT | 11 |
I have a Mazda Protoge 1994 model which failed to start, so I took it to the garage. They told me the problem is the crank angle sensor and that no-one makes that part - I have to replace the distributor which is 450 dollars plus labor/tax making 650 in total. When working(!) the

| Idle speed? | 29 Nov 2006 04:43 GMT | 3 |
Sort of an odd thing... the Miata idles at about 1250rpm while waiting for a light but if I put it in neutral the idle drops to a proper 750rpm or so. Doesn't matter if the clutch is in or out, it idles at 750 until I put it in gear, then it immediately goes to 1250.

| Can you id this part? | 28 Nov 2006 23:01 GMT | 71 |
I am 99% certain that this came off of a miata, probably from under the dash. Before I go digging for part numbers, does anyone recognize what it is? http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/pat/miatapart.jpg

| Increasing Aspect Ratio? | 28 Nov 2006 02:56 GMT | 9 |
I have no problems with my 04 MSM's handling in any way, and I would not like to screw it up in any way, but I do find the gearing to be awfully short. I would like to decrease the effective gearing on the car by changing the tires from 205/40/17 to 205/45/17. There's pretty decent

| 2000 626 | 27 Nov 2006 07:25 GMT | 3 |
I know this is a Miata group, but there is no general for Mazda. My wife drives a 2000 626 and I was wondering if there is a light that illuminates the gears by the shifter? I drove it the other day and noticed that there is no way to see what gear you are in

| sound of water | 26 Nov 2006 12:51 GMT | 14 |
I have had a Mk 1 import for the last 10 years. Recently, somehow, water is getting into the car (yes I have got the roof up) following heavy rain and I can hear it sloshing around under the floor on the passenger side. I have checked that there are no blocked drain holes but ...

| Anybody ever heard of a wheelchair rack? | 26 Nov 2006 01:00 GMT | 13 |
Might sound goofy. Anyone ever heard of / seen a wheelchair rack (thinking something similar to a non-damaging removable bike rack) for the back of a Miata? This is for an ultra-lightweight foldable wheechair (about 25 lbs). Or...anyone know of a shop in Houston that might ...

| Power mirrors on '92 Miata? | 25 Nov 2006 21:17 GMT | 3 |
I've got a mirror with a damaged base, works fine, looks bad. I checked Ebay for a replacement and see there seem to be more power mirrors available than manual and I can also get the switch but..... how much wiring is needed to add power mirrors? I can't find any reference to ...

| Shrieking Noise | 25 Nov 2006 06:03 GMT | 8 |
My '99 Miata has been making a shrieking noise if the engine is warm and revs fall below 1000 RPM . If I accelerate to 3000 or so RPM--usually in 3rd gear, drop the clutch and let the revs fall back, it goes away. Belt dressing has helped.

Please excuse this Mazda query not being Miata-specific, but I've come up dry with both Google's web search and its Usenet archive; this is the only Mazda group I could find, and searching my server's retention of it, I see nothing relevant here, either.

| wheel balance problems | 20 Nov 2006 14:52 GMT | 8 |
Last week I bought a new set of winter tires and put them on a set of alloy wheels, which I use exclusively for winter. I noticed immediately that the steering wheel would shake at highway speed. FYI I don't think the 65mph shimmy is the main cause because I didn't have
