I just wanted to get some opinions on what you think might be going on with
my Mazda.  When I turn the key the car won't start.  At first thought I
thought it would be the starter but the car does not make a clicking noise or

I have a new (2007) Mazda3 wagon with automatic transmission in California.
The EPA mileage estimates are 25/31 but so far I'm getting only 18/24, and
I'm not a particularly aggressive or wild driver.  With other cars I've
owned I have tended to get much closer to the estimates.  ...

There was some weeping around the valve cover gasket, so I replaced that.
There is still a burning oil smell, but no smoke from the tailpipe. I am
suspecting the oil pan may be loose; I'm going to look at it now.
