I have also sprayed some ether in the intake a couple of times to get
500 SEC Dashboard23 Aug 2003 22:10 GMT2
I have a 1985 MB 500 SEC, in fantastic condition other than the dashboard,
which is cracked....  A common enough problem on many MB's I believe.  I've
heard there are people out there who produce covers for the dashboard...
Anyone got any recommendations?  Preferably looking for ...

300 or 350 SDL - which is best?23 Aug 2003 16:32 GMT2
My 300SDL is in litigation and not likely to be running for a LONG time.  I
want to replace it.  Which is better, the early '90s 350SDL or the late
'80's 300SDL?  What should I look for?  Why is one better than the other?

it to accelerate after gaining rpm it smooths out and will cruise then
stopping it will stall.
1980 300SD Resurrection Project23 Aug 2003 07:40 GMT2
My son's 1980 300SD 116 with ~200M well tended miles has had it's vacuum
pump disintegrate.
The ultimate result is a camshaft with 3 non-contiguous pieces. He recalls a
sudden very bad chug-chug-chug and then a load metallic snap!

I am considering the purchase of a 1967 MB 230 4 door "finback" sedan.
It has the 6 cylinder and automatic transmission, no a/c.  seems to
run okay, but I am leery of the automatic.  Also I will want to add
a/c to it (I live in Texas).  Anyone out there have any thoughts or

still around?
1989 109e Starter Lock Cylinder22 Aug 2003 19:22 GMT2
I just got a used 1989 190e.  It has some minor problems but I have managed to
fix most of them except the ignition tumbler.  It takes about 5 min. to
start the car because the key always jams in the ignition tumbler.  I know
it is the tumbler because once it turns, everything works ...

1982 240d a/c fan21 Aug 2003 21:15 GMT1
Ok, I've heard it's impossible and I've heard it's easy. What's the
real story on how hard it is to replace the air conditioner/heater fan
on a 1982 240d?
If there are any tricks or tips, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks in
W140 Transmission Question21 Aug 2003 21:13 GMT1
My 1995 S320 is acting very strange.  When I shift into reverse there
is a 5-6 second delay before the car starts moving in reverse.  When
shifting to drive, it advances immediately.  It doesn't seem to make a
difference if it's hot or cold and the fluid level is where the manual
