In February of this year I became the proud owner of a 1997 E420
Mercedes. What can I say? A very smooth, powerful, and beautiful

   When I'm idling with my foot on the brake in D, my 1985 380SE makes a
whirring noise. If I put it in neutral, the noise goes away. When I put it
back in D the noise sometimes comes back sometimes stays away. What's wrong,
how much does it cost to fix, and how long do I have?

Does this model (non climate control, just the 'red/white/blue' thumbwheels)
have the diagnostics port for the aircon?
If not, how does one go about fault-finding?
