1980 300SD 116 Oil cooler fitting19 Jun 2004 04:33 GMT2
One of the oil line fittings on my oil cooler is shot, the female
threads have corroded away.  The rest of the cooler is perfect.  Does
anyone have an oil cooler around, even one that is damaged is ok.  The
fitting appears to be sweated into the cooler, so if I can find a good
1992 300SL-How much should it cost?19 Jun 2004 02:10 GMT1
I have a client/friend that is selling his 1992 300sl.  He is the original
owner.  It has 35K miles on it and the body and paint appear to be in
excellent condition.  He is letting me drive it for the weekend.  Is there
anything I should try to check out?  Any ideas on the going ...
MIDAS Brake Job19 Jun 2004 02:09 GMT10
My wife's '98 C230 recently needed a brake job and I called the local M-B
dealer for an appointment and to reserve a courtesy loaner while they did
the work.
"We don't provide loaners for brake jobs" I was told.
450scl sluggish starting18 Jun 2004 16:55 GMT6
I recently purchased a 1979 450slc.  It runs very well but does have a
few minor glitches.  It takes a few seconds to start when cold.  It is
very consistent about how long it takes to fire up depending on how
cold the engine is.  Also the engine bogs down if you give it a small
whirring sound, not from tranny, but where?18 Jun 2004 12:54 GMT5
Ok, so I heard the whirring sound in a parking lot and putting the parking
brake on so that I could open the hood. Of course, a torrential downpour had
just started put whatever. The sound seemed to be coming from the area where
all the belts are. The closest I could pin-point the ...
c280.....18 Jun 2004 12:23 GMT7
I'm looking at used MB's.  For various reasons, I'm focussing on C280's.  Questions:
For reliability and performance, inline 6 or V6?  Why?
Any years to prefer or avoid?
What tends to go wrong on these cars?  Anything specific to look for (good or bad)?
92 SL500 - Stereo upgrade question18 Jun 2004 01:21 GMT3
I have a 92 SL500 with an old ten cd changer in the trunk. The CD
player skips every time I hit a bump and the speakers don't sound so
hot anymore. I was thinking about upgrading to an in dash system that
plays cd's and mp3's and upgrading the speakers. Does anyone have any
Bad Gas problem C28018 Jun 2004 00:55 GMT1
I have a 1999 C280 which has been affected by the bad gas (high sulfur)
distributed last month.  The dealer tells me that they have to replace the
instrument cluster when they replace the fuel gauge sender in order for the
fuel gauge to work with the new senders.  Is this correct?  ...
19840300D Hard Shift18 Jun 2004 00:07 GMT1
I just purchased a 1984 300D.  Nice car, 160k, very clean, however the
transmission shifts very hard from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 when cold.  Gets better
when it warms up?  Any suggestions?
Thanks
300E: Broken  Bolt Update17 Jun 2004 20:54 GMT2
Well my girlfriend suggested me going to my neighbor up the street for some
help.  He's a snap on salesman.  He lent me a kit to get broken bolts out.
THe one socket made it on and the teeth grabbed the shaft and I slowly
loosened it.  I bought it back to him and offered to buy the ...

300SD vacuum information17 Jun 2004 04:42 GMT18
I have a "hard shifting" automatic in a 300SD. I bought a new modulator but
before installing it I checked my vacuum on the "T" that goes to the
automatic transmission. I got a steady 11" of Hg at idle (375 millibar). I
cannot reconcile various information about how much vacuum ...
