7 SPEED AUTO versus 5 SPEED AUTO06 Aug 2004 00:34 GMT22
Many of the new models feature the 7 speed. Does this
transmission provide significant performance and
economy advantages over the 5 speed?
I know that the 7 speed is not on the higher horsepower
HELP!  124 Rear Window05 Aug 2004 22:31 GMT5
Hey all,
It seems the rear left window on my 87 300D won't come back up.  Fuse is
good, have switched switches -- no joy.  It sounds like the window motor
could be clicking but it won't let the window move.  Any emergency ideas on
300SDL tire question05 Aug 2004 21:53 GMT1
My '86 300SDL currently has Toyo 215/60R15's on it that were on it
when i bought the car last year It handles great in wet or dry, better
even tham my 450SL does. It has come time to replace 2 of them. The
local Toyo dealer say proper size for a 300SDL should be a 205/65
Speaker input leads05 Aug 2004 21:53 GMT1
One of the front dash 4" speakers on my wife's '95 E320 blew out and I am
replacing the pair with a set of Pioneer speakers.  No big deal, but I
happened to notice that the right-hand (passenger side) dash speaker has two
sets of leads going to it rather than one.  Any idea what ...
92 300SL Clock05 Aug 2004 21:43 GMT2
I am about to have my A/C evaporator replaced, so I thought since the dash
has to come out, I might take advantage and have the clock repaired.  I've
been told you have to replace the entire instrument cluster to repair the
clock.  It's really not worth the $900 the dealership ...
'87 300D 2.5 Turbo Gouge Causes05 Aug 2004 15:33 GMT2
Why would there be gouges/chunks missing at the top 1/4" of the
cylinder #5 wall, while this doesn't exist in the other cylinders?
Could that be caused by an excessively lean mixture in that cylinder?
If so, what would cause this in that cylinder only?

'87 300D Turbo Cylinder Wall Deterioration Solution04 Aug 2004 20:56 GMT3
I am currently having my head gasket replaced on my 1987 300D Turbo
(124).  The mechanic tells me that the wall where the gasket sits
between cylinder 5 and 6 is only as thick as a dime where as the
others have normal thickness, which is probably why the engine ran

SLK 230 - Instrument panel lighting color, plus skirt question04 Aug 2004 17:26 GMT4
Does anyone know the precise type of material that the front spoiler (skirt)
on the '04 SLK 230 is made from?
Also, I'm not particularly fond of the orange color of the instrument panel
lights.  I had an Integra way back when, and it was a common customization

Question04 Aug 2004 10:53 GMT3
I've got an old mercedes here, not sure of the year, probably late 70's.
It's been sitting in the driveway since '88.  I'm to the understanding that
just before it became a permanent fixture there, that the engine and
transmission was rebuilt.  My question is, after sitting for 22 ...
