190E 2.6 Fluid Leaks - Repair Estimate19 Dec 2004 05:21 GMT2
Recently bought a 1989 190E 2.6.  It has two fluid leaks.  One is oil
from the upper timing chain cover gasket.  The other is transmission
fluid from the front pump seal.  Both leaks are very small.
What is the going rate for replacing these gaskets/seals at independent

Here is my problem:
I live in a city that requires auto emission tests annually. I took my car
in to have the test done and it failed miserably. The hydro carbon count was
5 times the allowable limit. I was told that fuel is not burning as it goes

I own a 1986 300 SEL 6 door limousine that has recently started behaving in
a peculiar way. When I start the car the idle is very rough and when I put
it in drive it feels very sluggish. I can floor it but there is only very
slow acceleration. The car feels like it drives only on 5 ...

Anyway, the steel wheels that are on it - are there any larger steel wheels

   I am hoping to put my 280sel engine into a new 450sel that I bought,
they are both the same year, 1978 ,
I am wondering if the tranny from the 450 will be the same or do  I need to
pull tranny and all from the 280?

I have recently aquired a Mercedes 280CE, all four electric windows stopped
working at the same time.  I've checked the fues but this is OK.
I would appreciate any suggestions to resolve this problem.

I was at the dealership here today, and they had an SLR
McClaren on the showroom floor.  The price was $500k, but
the asking price was $700k.  That included a full tank of
