My 300e is using about a quart of oil every 1,000 miles and may be fouling a

Just found out why the ac in my '89 300e won't hold a charge--mechanic says
the evaporator core has failed and he needs $1,600 bucks to install a new

The instrument cluster on my wife's 1997 MB C280 has failed.  The dealer
wants about $1000 to replace it.  I have found a couple of places that claim
to be able to repair it and a couple of places that appear to have
replacements (used but guaranteed).

In my 1982 500 SL I noticed the option code '603', saying headlamp
wipers and 'ölfür Sperrdifferential in Kanistern und Dosen'.
Can anyone explain me what this last thing means ?
