Buying a diesel compression tester? Plse advise.25 Mar 2005 00:02 GMT2
I was thinking about getting a compression tester for my old M-B diesel.
That way I can keep a better watch on what is going on with the engine, if
the engine is shot and needing overhaul, etc.  Its the '85 5-cyl 300 SD
engine, which is supposed to have the valves adjusted regularly ...
Noisy Door.24 Mar 2005 14:37 GMT3
The driver's door of my 1990 260E makes a loud horrid double cracking sound
when opening & closing. Anyone know the cause? Could a novice like myself
possibly effect a repair? I have managed to find some detail on how to
disassemble the door lining.

Thanks in advance.

1979 300d will not start24 Mar 2005 00:34 GMT3
The glow plug dash light does not come on. The engine turns over but
will not fire up. I've changed the relay pack that is before the first
glow plug the fuse was blown and had over heated melting the left side
of the relay box along with half the wire leading to the first glow

BOSCH EURO-HEADLIGHTS23 Mar 2005 22:34 GMT12
I had assumed all euro-headlights   were made of tempered glass, with
all the talk of using 80- 100 watt bulbs.  Wouldn't high wattage bulbs
melt or distort the plastic lens?    My replacement lens just arrived,
box marked Bosch,  is plastic ...or lexan.     what should it be  ...

I have always had my 1991 300SE professionally maintained, but now
that I am retired and have more time and less money, I would like to
start doing some of the routine maintenance myself.  It needs new
