Late Shifting, 300D auto-transmission21 May 2005 05:24 GMT4
Just got this 300TD with 200,000 miles on it. The tranny was overhauled
about 60,000 miles ago.  Seems to me the transmission is quite late in
shifting. The engine is revving beyond the shift marks on the speedometer.
I usually have to let off on the accelerator to get it to shift ...

Touch-up paint?20 May 2005 16:31 GMT8
I bought a little tube of touch up paint at the MB Dealer for $26. It
is a gray metallic for bumper trim. Numbers are correct but the match
is not very good. Too dark. (1998 C230). Has anyone else had problems
with correct match?  Thanks.

Hoping that someone can help.
I have a 2000 E280 Saloon, where the rear RHS window mechanism has
become faulty. It seems that whilst winding the window upwards, the
mechanism for some reason became stuck, causing the cable to snap and

I have a 1991 190e and it has a difficult time starting when cold. After it
warms up, no problem, but starting up after letting it cool down for a few
hours is tough.  Could this be a starter problem?

Today's mail brought a good M-B parts catalog from Performance Products,
complete with schematics of major parts groups for the 107, 123, 124,
126 and 201 chassis.
There's also a second catalog available for 1990 - 2005 C, E, S & M
300SD needs a little gas to start19 May 2005 05:19 GMT12
My 1984 300SD with 127k always needs a little gas to start it.  I turn
the key, wait for glowplugs in 40 degree weather (May in Michigan,
lemme tell ya), press gas lightly, and it starts right up (with
mandatory little cloud of grey smoke).  It wants to idle at about
Durability of the 1995 300D engines and beyond19 May 2005 03:54 GMT3
I had seen some messages previously questioning the durability of the 3
litre straight-6 non-turbo four valve engines in 1995 and later E class
models (mostly because there is so little info on them). I saw a 95 300D
recently at the local MB shop with 386K miles. The owner said the ...
