190E 2.6 1992: Just pulled cover, to replace fuel filter and found a cruddy mess inside. Dual fuel pumps right, fuel accumulator left, fuel filter center. Fuel outlet fittings facing rear, are white with corrosion, as in fuel leak, as is the bottom of the cover, bleached

Want to change brake peddle switch.. Had a look underdash, a few screws but didnt go ahead to remove it. Because under dash cover the hood release is joined to the cover. Worried if I took the cover off the release button might be hard to put back. Can it be done easily.
