Battery Problems13 Jun 2005 20:52 GMT4
My battery light is staying on all the time. Sometimes I will try to start
the car and it sounds like the battery is almost dead. Try it later and it
starts. The light never goes out. This is a 300sd 1982
paging the captain, CaptainW116, please report to the control room.13 Jun 2005 19:58 GMT11
Couldnt help but notice you also have a '79 6.9
Know of any decent forums dedicated to these beasts.
I used to use http://www.m-100.info/servlet/Controller but the discussion
board has not worked for a very long time.
Too much oil?13 Jun 2005 19:25 GMT6
When I send my car for servicing it always comes back with the
dipstick showing FAR over filled.   (Usually about 1l over, or more).
Is this harmful?
Otherwise I have to siphon some out - a really slow process!

T Rated Tires13 Jun 2005 08:19 GMT4
I needed tires recently, and opted for the top rated tire, according to
Tire Rack, the Michelin Hydro-Edge in original size 185x65x15  for my
1992 190E 2.6.             Great grip, wet or dry and absolutely dead
silent.   One saleman present was concerned because the car was listed
W124 correct oil pressure13 Jun 2005 03:25 GMT4
I have '95 E320 (148k) and I am curious as to the correct oil pressure I
should see on the gauge.
Above 1000rpm pressure is pegging the needle above 3.
When warm and running, the oil pressure at idle is only "1", is this correct
I just got my "High Mileage Award" - 155,000  Miles +13 Jun 2005 01:15 GMT19
The odometer in my '86 190E 2.3 reads over 242,000 miles.  I applied for
the High Mileage Award less than 4 weeks ago and I got it yesterday.  It
includes the medallion and a fancy certificate.
What is the highest mileage recorded in still running MBs?  I suppose
'97 E320: Diagnostic Code P0170 (generic) Question13 Jun 2005 00:08 GMT5
Today, on a local errand, while inching ahead in a parking lot there was
a discrete beep from the dash and the "Check Engine Light" and "check
engine electronics" messages came on.
The 104.995  24 valve straight six starts and runs flawlessly; it's done
Quality and Reliability -- How Good is it?11 Jun 2005 23:50 GMT7
I have had a 2003 CLK320 Cabriolet for about 7 months; it has about 20,000
miles on it.
I've had it back to the dealership 4 times now with material issues:
 - One time, it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear
For the old Mercedes aficionados,where do I find literature?11 Jun 2005 22:41 GMT2
I'm really looking for the type of literature they had in the 60's
like catalog #12 139 for 68-69 230 and 250! You know ,with the entire
car drawn and dissmantled page by page!I need it for my 1979 450SEL 6.9
and am not sure if they even exist but thought I would try asking!P.S.
190E 2.6 199211 Jun 2005 21:35 GMT2
Is there a simple way to check/ reset the timing on my car, or is it
electronically set, can't find timing mark... symtoms are startup
struggle to relatively smooth idle    poor gas mileage, and having to
floor it to get kickdown to activate,  instead of merely toe
1971 250 CE CUTS OUT AFTER FEW SECONDS11 Jun 2005 16:58 GMT8
Hi Old Mercedes Afficionados,
My wifes 71 250CE cut out the other day and wouldn't start despite me
cleaning points etc.  It seems to have good spark while turning over and
will start and idle nicely every time for about two seconds and then cut
s420 floor mat SOLUTION11 Jun 2005 14:59 GMT5
Those nice carpet floor mats that came in my 1999 s420 were getting to be a
pain as after a while they start to bunch up and they just won't act right.
I was exploring some way to stick them down, but every method I considered
would most likely make a mess of the carpet underneath.
I have 2003 SL500 Where to from here?10 Jun 2005 19:17 GMT25
My 2003 SL500 will be 4 years old come March. I'm starting to thnk
