Apoligies if this was recently discussed; I just subscribed to this
newsgroup.
I'm upgrading my old trusty '85 300SD to something a little quicker and
lighter, since I now do 90% of my driving on city streets instead of open

I bought this car, immaculate condition, full service history & it had
done 90,000 km for a 3 1/2 year old car. Anyways, last week, the
alternator failed & i had an electrical failure.. took it to my
mercedes guy who proceeded to tell me a new one would cost $2000

I have to get at the power window mechanism in the left front door of my 91
300E.
Any ideas how I can remove the door panel without forcing anything and
ruining it?

Anyone know how to get the intermittent rain sensor reattached to the
glass so it works?

Greetings all,
I'm in the market to buy a 1980s-era Mercedes 300D. I've found a good
deal on one that has been modified to run on vegetable oil, but which
has 248k miles.

I believe I have seen in my 240D manual that the parking brake is adjusted
by taking off the hub cap/s
and removing one of the wheel bolts and finally using a screwdriver through
the hole to make the adjustment.

My climate controls are malfunctioning and was wondering if the US
climate controls will just "plug and play"? TIA :-) 76 450SE

my vehicle has only 190 thou miles tons of power super clean BUT after
idling about 5 min it begins to smoke oil lightly then about 10 min
smoking pretty good so I take it out bout a quarter mile down the road and
no smoke I turn around punch it and im at about 90 in a hundred yards ...

Where can I find this elusive item?  Also, does this control whether or
not the fan motor will spin?  I had to replace the fan motor beacue it
was squeaking, then stopped.  But, after a new motor and regulator, I
still get no fan.

What types are recommended and what to avoid and why, please ?
