How about it guys?09 Sep 2005 22:33 GMT19
Dear Mercedes-Benz aficionados:
Our fellow citizens, particularly poor people, in the Gulf States,
including New Orleans, are in a helluva mess. We see it on every TV.
We usually write about our cars here and their (petty) troubles (in
radiator expansion tank exploded09 Sep 2005 20:29 GMT6
I have a 96 e230 and the expansion tank on top of the radiator exploded
causing damage to the bonnet of the car.  I was stuck in traffic and noticed
that the temp was running a high (just below the red ).  I was hoping to
pull off but it went before I had a chance.
Engine swap, 500 AMG into Datsun09 Sep 2005 18:54 GMT7
This may sound crazy but I wounder if it can be done. I have 1984
500SEC AMG sitting on my yard with body damage. The engine runs well
except for few oil leaks which can be fixed easily. I am thinking of
swapping the motor and gear box into a light Datsun like 280Z. This AMG
Can horns be damaged by insufficient current?09 Sep 2005 01:30 GMT5
When I bought my 1972 250C last week, the horns didn't work.  The
previous owner had replaced the stock horns with a set of Hella units,
and he said that they had worked after he installed them.  When I took
the horns off and jumpered them directly to the battery, neither one

I’m just a newbie. I bought an 89 MBenz 300E with auto trans. (
181,000 plus mileage) last Monday. I noticed that the transmission
shifts long ( High RPM) and you can feel everytime it shifts. Do you
think something is wrong with the transmission? My other question, is

crankshaft seal oil leak08 Sep 2005 18:56 GMT3
i have a mercedes diesel jeep GD300 1989. After an oil change I found oil
leaking. I was told that it is my crankshaft seal and it is expensive to fix
(rear I believe). Is it dangerous if I just keep an eye on it  adding oil
when necessary and not fix it?
Just bought a 1992 300D turbodiesel.08 Sep 2005 18:14 GMT3
Greetings all,
I am now the proud owner of a new-to-me 1992 300d turbodiesel. It's got
198k miles on it, the mechanic says that it's in excellent running order
except for a few things:
Trunk Lock problem on 190E 2.608 Sep 2005 15:30 GMT7
The trunk (boot) lid just stopped opening on my 1993 190E 2.6.  I can
hear the lock mechanism moving at the latch, but the trunk won't open.
All the other power locks work fine.  Does anyone have any clues on what
might be wrong and/or how to get it open?
Paying for my bargain08 Sep 2005 15:05 GMT10

Ok.  I've got an "issue" to discuss.
After it rains, there's a "sloshing" inside the car.
It sounds like it's in the door but there's nothing

Any ideas on cooking oil diesel?08 Sep 2005 01:15 GMT1
I have two MB diesels, both '81s, 240D and 300D. With the recent jump in
fuel prices I'm now getting ready to collect and "refine" cooking oil from
local eateries.
I'd first like to make a batch of maybe 5 gallons or so and then add it
