300E misfiring25 Oct 2005 01:25 GMT15
Hello everyone, i put a new ignition coil in the car today hoping it would
help but it didnt.  As I negelected to state earlier the car really seems
like its misfiring after just starting up you almost give it full step
down and its like your not going anywhere for a few seconds.  ...
Rebuilding Spark Plug connector24 Oct 2005 20:52 GMT1
Well, considering no reply re this querry, I thought I would post my
observations re doing just that .... someone else may just be as cheap as me.
Removing the metal shield (bend the crimps away) is no problem and the rubber
covers slips off without any problem after the ignition ...

Zetsche to try Chrysler magic at Mercedes24 Oct 2005 09:11 GMT14
If there is one thing to be learned from the eviction
of Juergen Schrempp from the top spot at Daimler-Chrysler,
its the priority: the Chrysler unit can be in shambles, as
it was for most of King Juergen's reign, with no peril to
Speedometer wobble24 Oct 2005 05:03 GMT7
I've noticed that the speedometer on my '95 E320 has become erratic -
sometimes wobbling a lot (esp. at low speed), sometimes not even engaging
until around 30mph.  Is this simply due to a lack of graphite in the cable,
and if so how hard is it to re-lube these?

replacing glow plugs23 Oct 2005 19:42 GMT3
I own a 79 turbo diesel 300SD.  Could someone tell me how many glow
plugs are there and what do I need to watch out for when I replace
them?
Thanks.
240D question23 Oct 2005 08:07 GMT10
This is a VERY open-ended question:  I have an opportunity to buy a 1979
240D from a mechanic who specializes in German cars.  He comes highly
recommended.  He says it's been well maintained, has 130,000 miles on it and
except for faded paint and the AC doesn't work it's a fine car. ...

Question on fuel cleaner for 300 SD23 Oct 2005 00:49 GMT2
The fuel  level transmitter is messed up, it is fine until reaching
3/4 level, then it starts to become intmt. When it is down to about
1/4, it is mostly inop. It dawned on me that the sludge/crud is at the
bottom of the tank, and so the lower down you go on the transmitter,
Overheating 1987 420SEL23 Oct 2005 00:40 GMT1
My water temperature remains normal most of the time.  But when the engine
is working under load, such as when going uphill for a minute or more, water
temp rises to nearly the redline.  I'm talking about modest hills here, no
steep mountains, and this occurs even in 70 degree ...
1986 300e   can use Mustang oxygen sensor?22 Oct 2005 20:49 GMT3
Quote from a thread in MB club of America

And I thought it was hard to change the O2 sensor. Took me about 30 min.
That includes jacking up the car, placing jack stands, re-wiring, (used O2
Cold Start Valve 190E 2.6L 198922 Oct 2005 16:44 GMT4
Car won't start without pumping gas pedal, so was advised to replace cold
start valve.  (Car seems to run well once started, and idles down to
normal within a few seconds of starting; only other thing I see is
sometimes sluggish accelerating away from a stop until the revs get to
