Brake Shimmy27 Nov 2005 13:43 GMT6
Just had new front rotors and pads installed on my 1987 420SEL with 160K
miles.  All was fine for the first 1-2,000 miles, but now I have bad shimmy
when the brakes get warm, and even a little shimmy when they're cold.
I question the knowledge of the brake shop where I had the ...

Still have a dead car! (see thread somewhere below)
It's not the relay - tried a new replacement.
So - how do I test the fuel pump electrics - is there a voltage/ampage
target I should be hitting, and for how long?

We all know we have to be careful when giving names and, as an example,
Rolls-Royce famously did NOT call one of its models "Silver Mist" (in line
Erratic Fuel Gauge25 Nov 2005 17:42 GMT3
What could be the reason for my fuel gauge needle to "suddenly" start
wandering back and forth, with  readings varying by as much as a quarter
of a tank?    Whether I am driving, or idling,
I watch as it wanders from  1/2 full, to 1/4 full and back again???

300DT Vacuum Leak Mystery24 Nov 2005 08:58 GMT3
Calling all Merc detectives:: Every once in a while my engine won't
shut off with the key, and the doors won't lock, so I know there is a
vacuum leak.  Funny thing is, most of the time everything works quickly
and perfectly.  The problem happens about one time in twenty. Doesn't
1992 300D transmission "slipping"?24 Nov 2005 05:08 GMT4
Not sure if "slipping" is the right word, but sometimes while driving
(both when the engine and transmission are cold, as well as warmed up
