Knocks at idle, like a rod or main bearing but, it goes away under load. Even if it's just in drive, foot on the brake, take rpm's up to 1000 and it's quiet and smooth as silk.

Today I had to have our '97 E300 towed to the dealer because the front upper spring collar was seperating from the frame. I had suggested (to the dealer) that this should be considered as a manufacturer's deffect but he denied any re-call issue.

I have this weird problem where the car is consuming way too much fuel I am getting about 7-8 KM/lt on the highway. Roughly about 16 MPG. Recent work that has been done on the car is complete head and injector pump change.

It's a dumb question, I guess, but are there "symptoms" to watch or listen for? Is it simply a matter of the battery's age? How do you know when it's time to replace the battery?

When my '89 560 SEL warms up, I turn the blower to auto. I've noticed that no matter how hot it gets in the front, the rear vent Always blows out cold! What am I missing here. It does this cold thing if I put the also blower on high or low.
