If it is true that you cannot turbo a 240d ...then can you put a 300TD engine in a 240D?

Okay to update everyone again...... This past month the car would run for a little while and then cut out. I cut the catalytic converter out think it was blocked but it would only run for a minute and just konck out. I first replaced the fuel filter about 2 wks ago.

I recently noticed that my MPG have dropped off by almost 5-7 MPG. No light on the dash. No loss of performance (at least none that I can notice). Recently changed all the filters. There is some VERY minor leak near return air manifold (EGR stff?) that loops back on the driver

The car is my good old '86 190E 2.3. I drove the car back home from a short errand. As I turned into my driveway, the belt tensioner failed causing a loud screeching noise. I lifted the hood and found the serpentine belt totally loose but intact.

I'm in the process of looking for a 190E. I've seen one that I think is a good one, but am a little concerned about a few things. On startup from (very) cold the tappets make a noise, but eventually disappears, certainly after getting warm. When warm the tickover is about
