I have a '92 190E with 180k miles. Its 722.4 transmission seems to have trouble with 1st gear; on takeoff, engine RPMs go way high and the car very slowly accelerates and then slams into 2nd. All other gears thereon are fine.

From years of driving lesser cars I developed the habit of shifting in to Reverse from Drive without stopping. When I do it now there's a hard lurch. How much abuse can the E-320's tranny take? Sounds like it may be an expensive habit.

Where is the OBD port on a 94 C280? I can't find anyplace to hook up. Is it OBDII? The ck eng light came on after my daughter failed to put the gas cap back on when she refilled and it stayed on. I need to see if it's that or something else.
