| Odometer - 260 E | 14 Aug 2006 03:38 GMT | 4 |
I have a 1989 260E which has just completed 260,000 kilometres. However, a few weeks ago, the odometer and trip meter stopped operating. My mechanic says the odometer will have to be taken out and sent away for repair - which in Mercedes speak sounds expensive!

In my area roundabouts are rare but when I venture to areas that have them I find them very difficult - especially when they are used for fairly fast traffic.

Im considering a ten year old E-class for my dad. Therefore would like to know if the engines are different in terms of durability and ease of repair? The 220 seems to have manual gear and lower consumption though. Any other differencies?

| Marathon drive | 13 Aug 2006 00:05 GMT | 4 |
Not planned as such, but I made a long non-stop road trip recently in my CLX. When I reached home I found that I had driven 410 miles in about 7 hours. The MB comfort had made it an easy task. Later I realised that it must be the longest continuous drive I have

My "friend" mixed some inadequately filtered veggie oil with diesel in the tank of his 1982 300D turbo. The car ran fine in the drive for 20 minutes, but started chugging & died once he got on the freeway. Upon inspection, his filters were clogged & it appears the injector pump
