license plate lights stay on13 Feb 2007 15:26 GMT8
Just noticed that the license plate lights stay on even after you turn
the ingnition off (and take the key out). Aren't these supposed to be
wired to the curcuit for the lights? The only other work that was
recently done was a new radio install, but I don't think that has
300E 2.6 cold starting problem13 Feb 2007 05:26 GMT2
Just got a 1990 300E 2.6 with 170k on it, and it has problems starting
after it has sat for more then 4  hours. So far my friends and I have
come up with maybe the fuel pump is losing its prime and needs to be
replaced. Does this sound correct?

Went and looked at a 78 gray market 350SE (I'm in US) it has had
reinforcements done on the bumpers, the DOT headlights and reinforcement in
the doors back in 1983 is when it came in. Anyway, I have some questions
that some of you would be able to help with. First, It appears to ...

1988 300E  Engine Surging Idle and Stalling12 Feb 2007 21:54 GMT7
Our E300 can run fine, other times the engine Engine idle always surges
somewhat.  At a stop the engine can surge enough the brakes need solid
application to keep the vehicle motionless.  Other times the engine will
surge and die when stopped.  Much work has been done to correct ...
Oxygen sensor wiring12 Feb 2007 21:51 GMT1
When replacing my old oxygen sensor how many wires are there to reconect?
I'm guessing the single black 'bullet' connector is the sensor signal and the
2 wire connector jack is for the heater to the sensor.  The car is a '89 300E
Do I then splice in the new sensor or is it best to ...
1999 CLK 320 replacement spark plug wires12 Feb 2007 14:07 GMT6
I've just purchased a 1999 CLK 320 (140,000 kms).  The MB dealership
is doing an inspection, and told me the spark plug wires are frayed,
and arcing (which may explain why the engine's in limp-home-mode at
the moment).  They quoted me C$650 for a replacement set (!) which
'78 W123 240D12 Feb 2007 13:36 GMT8

2002 C320 FSS "B"12 Feb 2007 12:56 GMT7
New here & nice to find a group where I can ask a few questions...
1.)  Car hit 40k+ mark so no warranty.  FSS "B" is coming up & dealer wants
$425.  A local Benz shop has quoted me a price of $300.  I realize 8.5
quarts of synthetic oil is pricey, but what else are they doing to ...
1984 500 sel please help me on this one11 Feb 2007 23:15 GMT3
Hi all, hate to be a pain about the car, but I been thinking,
maybe there is a simple reaon why the car is so starved for air that it is
blowing black smoke, and it is the same reason that the vacuum line coming
from the manifold
Biodiesel and my W124?11 Feb 2007 23:13 GMT3
Hi I would like to start making Bio-Diesel out of WVO and run my 1991
W124 300TDT on bio. First off is anyone from this group doing this with
this car? (it is the 6cyl Turbo engine). If so, what modifications were
necessary? Further what issues does one need to look out for?
1979 Mercedes Engine Dies - What could be the problem?11 Feb 2007 23:10 GMT3
1979 Mercedes 300 SD.   The engine would idle rough (but good) and
would run fine.  During about a 1 hour period, the car hesitated a few
times (semi dying) but then would go right back to running fine.  It
then really started to "bog" down untill it finally stalled.
Jacking a W12311 Feb 2007 23:05 GMT4
So I got my thermostat changed today, but in so doing I looked all over
for the drain to the radiator and couldn't find a proper one anywhere. I
pondered jacking it up, but then didn't want the hassle, but still I
ended up with a question for you all.
